Another dream.
I found myself walking through an unfamiliar landscape filled with wild grass and towering trees, untouched by human interference. It was a place where nature had grown freely, creating an environment that felt both enchanting and eerie. Ahead of me, I heard two voices urging me to speed up, but my legs could only carry me so fast.
I couldn't see their faces, only their backs as they moved swiftly through the underbrush. One of them I recognized instantly as the man I had seen on the rooftop in my previous dream. The other was different, a bit shorter, with dark skin, a slender build, and long brown hair.
The ground beneath me began to rumble ominously, like the growl of a hungry beast. Cracks started to form beneath my shoes, splitting the earth open. Suddenly, I heard two frantic screams: "Run!"
And just like that, I woke up, my heart pounding. Another premonition? It couldn't be. I hate outdoor activities, let alone wandering through untamed wilderness. "Keep an open mind," I reminded myself, echoing the wise words of my grandmother. Taking a deep breath, I pulled out my purple diary and began to write about this second dream.
As I got ready for Cassie's party, I dressed casually in a brown t-shirt and blue jeans, as requested by her, since she planned to dress me up for the occasion. Apparently, I was to be the unofficial bridesmaid of the party. So, I didn't put much effort into my outfit, grabbed my bag, and headed towards our destination: Real Heaven.
I arrived at the venue around 11 AM. The lunch party was set to start at 12, but I was early to allow time for dressing up. I parked my car in the basement of the restaurant and took the elevator up to the 33rd floor. It was the top floor, I realized, as I stepped out and was greeted with a big smile from Cassie, who seemed to have been waiting for me.
She enveloped me in a big hug, squeezing me tight. Cassie smelled like strawberries, and as I looked at her, I couldn't help but admire her beauty. At 5'5", she was taller than me, wearing a stunning white knee-length sleeveless dress embroidered with floral designs. Her hair was styled in a bun, exposing her graceful neck like a beauty pageant queen.
"Let me take you to my private room," she said with a wink, taking me by the hand.
I breathed in the luxurious atmosphere around us, captivated by the multiple chandeliers above that resembled a guiding North Star, illuminating the room with their sparkling light. The posh wall designs, adorned with paintings that must have cost a fortune, and waiters and servers in their fancy suits added to the elegance of the setting as they passed by us.
"Here we are," Cassie announced.
As I stepped into the room, it felt like a private suite reserved for celebrities. And then I saw them—the twins. Their skin was a perfectly chocolatey brown, resembling their father's, with black hair and brown eyes. Identical twins, indeed.
"Can I?" I asked, gesturing to hold them, and Cassie nodded excitedly.
I picked up the first twin, who was absolutely adorable. He laughed as soon as I lifted him up.
"Jacob," Cassie said aloud, fixing her makeup.
I cradled him for a couple of minutes, then shifted my attention to the other twin and picked him up.
"Alaric," Cassie introduced him.
Alaric, unlike Jacob, was not thrilled to see me and gave me the most uninterested look. As he started to cry, clearly expressing his dislike for me, I quickly handed him back to Cassie. She calmed him down in an instant, placing him gently on the ground.
I then pulled out the gifts I had brought for the twins and handed them to Cassie. Her face lit up with astonishment as she unwrapped them.
"These are for the twins," I explained.
"Oh, they are so lovely!" she exclaimed, immediately putting the necklaces on the children.
"This is for you," I said, handing her a silk, eggshell-white scarf with her name embroidered on it, which I had ordered online. Cassie was thrilled, draping it around her neck and showing it off to me with delight.
Just as I was about to inquire about Zac, he entered the room.
"Hi, Sarah," he grinned, giving me a warm hug.
"Hello, Zac," I replied with a smile. "This is for you," I added, handing him a box containing a watch I had also ordered online. He opened it eagerly and fastened it around his wrist.
"It goes well with my suit," Zac said, admiring the watch. I had to agree; his dark skin and tall stature complemented the velvety black and blue suit with a black necktie he wore. He and Cassie looked perfect together.
"Shall we leave Cassie to dress up, dear?" Zac suggested.
He and Cassie each picked up one of the twins and headed towards the door.
"Sarah, the clothes are in the closet along with a cardigan, as I know you get cold easily," Cassie said.
"We're just heading to the next banquet hall, first left from the room and down the hall. You'll find your way, won't you?" Zac asked.
I nodded, thanking them as I locked the door behind them. Opening the closet to retrieve my dress, I was rendered speechless.
There it was: the blue dress with a V-neck from my rooftop dream. Adjacent to it was a white cardigan with stars on the shoulders, exactly like in the dream. I glanced down at my feet, hoping I hadn't worn my white sneakers, but of course, I had.
I changed into the dress and stood in front of the mirror, seeing myself as I had in the dream—except for my hair, which I decided to leave down, despite knowing that a bun would accentuate my features more.
Then, I noticed my locket, the crescent moon with a star, given to me by my grandmother on my 16th birthday. I tucked it into my cardigan, preferring to keep it to myself.
Gathering my things, I followed Zac's directions to the banquet hall and entered, eager to see what awaited me.
