The morning sunlight beamed through the window of our room and I started to widen my eyes. I groaned as I slowly opened my eyes with my head throbbing from the night out. I carefully got out of bed, trying not to wake Kyra. When I got downstairs, I found Lia and Leah just about to leave.
"Where are you guys going?" I asked, whilst yawning.
"Out with some friends," Leah replied. "We'll be back around three."
"Okay, have fun," I said waving from the doorstep.
I went back indoors and into the kitchen by the counter. I made myself a cup of water to try help with my hangover.
I heard footsteps coming from behind me and felt arms wrap around my waist. I looked up at my shoulder to see Kyra.
"Where did Leah and Lia go?" she asked, her voice soft and sleepy.
"They went out with some friends," I replied, smiling. "I thought we'd have the apartment to ourselves for a while."
Kyra nodded, her eyes still half-closed. She leaned in and kissed me softly.
"I'm glad." she murmured.
We spent a few minutes kissing, enjoying the empty house and quiet of the morning.
"I'm hungry." Kyra said pulling away from our hug.
"I'll make you something special." I giggled, laying a kiss on her forehead.
I prepared her favorite breakfast. I dished up pancakes with maple syrup and a side of bacon. As we ate, we talked about our plans for the day. Kyra suggested we go for a walk in the park and watch a movie. I agreed, excited to spend the day with her without having to worry about being caught by Leah.
After breakfast, we cleared the dishes and headed to the living room. We snuggled on the sofa, watching a movie. I started teasing Kyra by tickling her sides and making her laugh. She playfully started to hit my arm, but I continued as the sound of her laughter brought so much joy.
Suddenly, Kyra's expression changed. With quick and swift movement, she rolled us over so that she was on top of me. Her eyes locked with mine. The playful teasing had turned into something more intense. She leaned in to kiss me passionately, her hands running through my hair.
Just as our kiss deepened, we heard the front door open. Lia and Leah were back early from their night out. Their shocked faces when they saw us made me feel awkward and blush.
"What's going on here?" Lia asked, her eyes wide.
Kyra and I looked at each other, knowing we couldn't hide our secret any longer. I took a deep breath.
"We're together." I confessed.
Leah and Lia's reactions were completely opposite. Lia seemed excited, while Leah was a bit more cautious.
"You guys should have told us sooner," Leah said.
"We know, we were just waiting for the right time to tell everyone." Kyra replied.
After a few more minutes of discussion, we agreed to keep our relationship a secret for now. We'd post it on social media together once we were ready.
We spent the rest of the day together, enjoying each other's company. We went for a walk in the park. As we walked through the park, hand in hand, I couldn't help but think about how much our lives had changed since we first met. We'd gone from strangers to teammates for Arsenal and now we are in a loving relationship.
"Kyra, I've been thinking a lot about our futures together." I began, breaking the comfortable silence,
"What about?" she turned to me, her eyes filled with curiosity.
"Our football careers. I mean, we're both doing well but I can't help but wonder where we'll be in a few years." I explained.
"I've been thinking about that too. Maybe we'll be playing together in a major tournament one day." Kyra smiled.
"Or maybe even playing against each other in our national team," I added, knowing that someday I could be a hero for my country.
We continued to talk about our aspirations, our dreams, and our fears. As the sun began to set, Kyra turned to me and took my hand.
"I know we have a lot of things to look forward to, but there's something else I've been thinking about," she said softly.
"What is it?" I said leaning in closer to her.
"I don't want to sound too early however I see a really big bright future ahead of us, like not even in football but also in us. I just wanna say sometime in our lives I want to have kids." she admitted, her voice barely a whisper.
"Really?" I spoke not knowing what to say.
"I can't imagine starting a family with anyone else." she nodded.
We sat there in silence for a moment. All I could think about the problems of having kids. Like who would carry, what if something bad happened during pregnancy or what if I had to give up football. I put these thoughts to the side. I knew that having children was a big decision, but the idea of building a life with Kyra gave me that feeling that I would always get with Kyra .
"I'd love that," I replied, taking her hand in mine.
The evening sun painted the sky orange and pink as we returned home. Leah and Lia were already making dinner, the smell of roasted chicken and vegetables filling the house.
We enjoyed our dinner at the dining table, sharing stories and laughter. Afterward, we cleared the dishes and settled into the living room. Kyra and I snuggled on the sofa, lost in a movie while Leah and Lia spoke about how cut we were.
As the night got darker, a sense of tired washed over us.
"Well, I'm going to bed, goodnight, everyone." Leah yawned.
"Me too, goodnight." Lia agreed, standing up and stretching.
Kyra and I exchanged a smile. "Goodnight you too. We're off to bed too." I said.
"Goodnight," Kyra replied.
I walked upstairs with Kyra behind me. She closed the door and turned off the lights while I waited in bed. She climbed in and buried herself into the covers. Wrapped in each other's arms, i kissed her forehead.
"I love you, Kyra," I whispered into her ear.
"I love you too," she replied, her breath warm against my cheek.
We drifted off to sleep, our hearts filled with love. As I closed my eyes, I knew that our future together was filled with multiple possibilities.
