Selections??

The tension in the room was palpable as the selectors gathered to finalize the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Shubman Gill sat nervously, his eyes flickering between his phone and the selectors as they deliberated.

One by one, the names were called out, each selection met with nods of approval or sighs of disappointment. Shubman's heart pounded with anticipation, hoping against hope that his name would be among those chosen.

"Rohit Sharma."

"Virat Kohli."

"Hardik Pandya."

As the list grew longer, Shubman's hope waned. He clenched his fists, trying to maintain his composure as the selectors reached the final decisions.

"Unfortunately, Shubman Gill..."

The words hung in the air, a heavy silence following the announcement. Shubman's heart sank, his disappointment almost tangible.

"...will not be part of the squad for this World Cup."

Shubman swallowed hard, his jaw tightening as he struggled to accept the news. He looked around the room, seeing sympathetic glances from his teammates and coaches.

"We're sorry, Shubman," one of the selectors said gently. "It was a tough call."

Shubman nodded numbly, his mind racing with a mix of frustration and determination. He stood up, forcing a brave smile despite the disappointment weighing on his shoulders.

"Thank you," he managed to say, his voice steady but tinged with emotion.

As he walked out of the selection room, Shubman felt a wave of uncertainty wash over him. But deep down, he knew this setback would only fuel his determination to work harder and prove himself in the future.

Kashish paced nervously in her hotel room in Bali, the picturesque view outside doing little to calm her racing thoughts. She picked up her phone and dialed Shubman's number, hoping to get some clarity and offer support despite being miles away.

Kashish: (speaking into the phone) Shubman, hey, it's Kashish.

Shubman: (answering, his voice tense) Hey, Kash. What's up?

Kashish: (trying to sound composed) I just heard about the selections. Are you okay?

Shubman: (hesitating) Yeah, I'm... I'm okay. Just processing everything.

Kashish: (concern evident in her voice) I know how much this means to you, Shubman. I was really hoping to celebrate together. I'm sorry it didn't work out this time.

Shubman: (sighing) Thanks, Kash. It's tough, but I'll bounce back.

Kashish: (encouragingly) You will, Shubman. You've got so much talent and determination. This is just a setback, not the end.

Shubman: (grateful for her support) I appreciate that, Kash. How's Bali treating you?

Kashish: (trying to lighten the mood) It's beautiful, but honestly, I'd rather be celebrating with you. We'll make up for it when I'm back, okay?

Shubman: (smiling faintly) Absolutely. You better bring back some good stories and pictures.

Kashish: (teasingly) Only if you promise not to prank me again when I get back.

Shubman: (laughing softly) Deal. Thanks, Kash, for calling. It means a lot.

Kashish: (softly) Anytime, Shubman. Take care of yourself, okay? We'll catch up soon.

Shubman: (nodding) Definitely. Have a great time in Bali, Kashish.

Kashish: (wishing him well) You too, Shubman. Talk soon.

As Kashish ended the call, she felt a mix of emotions—concern for Shubman's disappointment and pride in his resilience. Despite the distance, their bond remained strong, offering support and encouragement in moments of triumph and adversity alike.
