Two days later, Shubman finally returned from Australia, exhausted but eager to visit Kashish. He had kept to his routine of visiting her regularly, even though the hospital staff had told him countless times that there was no change. It was something he needed to do—being close to her, even in her silence, brought him peace.
As he walked into the hospital, the rest of the family was already there, playing their roles perfectly. Ritika and Rohit were sitting in the waiting room, looking tired and worried. Virat and Anushka were nearby, with Vamika playing quietly with Samaira.
Shubman: (concerned, to Ritika) Any changes bhabhi?
Ritika: (sighing, shaking her head, playing along) No, Shubman. She's... she's the same.
Shubman nodded, his heart sinking. He braced himself as he walked into Kashish's room, his usual mixture of hope and despair filling him.
Kashish lay in bed, her eyes closed, her breathing even, just as she had been for the past year. Shubman approached her slowly, his heart heavy. He sat down beside her, taking her hand in his, his thumb gently brushing over her skin.

He was so lost in his emotions that he didn't notice Kashish's lips twitch slightly, fighting back a smile.

Shubman's heart nearly stopped. He blinked, staring at her, unable to believe his ears. He watched as her eyes fluttered open, a mischievous glint shining in them.
Shubman: (stammering, in shock) Kaa-Kashish? You're... you're awake?
Kashish: (grinning) Surprise! You're a bit late, you know. I've been awake for freaking two whole days!
The room erupted in laughter as the rest of the family burst in, unable to contain their excitement any longer. Shubman was still in shock, his eyes wide as he looked around at everyone.
Virat: (laughing) Gotcha, didn't we?
Anushka: (teasingly) You should have seen your face, Shubman!
Shubman: (finally recovering, shaking his head in disbelief) I can't believe you all did this to me Ver baddd! But... I'm so glad you're awake.
He leaned down and hugged Kashish tightly, tears of joy slipping down his cheeks.
Kashish: (hugging him back, softly) I couldn't resist, Shubman. You've been through so much. I wanted to give you something to smile about.
Shubman: (pulling back, looking into her eyes) You being awake is the best surprise I could ever ask for.
The room filled with laughter, hugs, and happy tears as the family celebrated Kashish's recovery and the successful prank. Shubman, still holding her hand, couldn't stop smiling, his heart finally at ease.
Ritika: (grinning) Welcome back, Kashish. You really pulled that off!
Kashish: (smirking) Of course. I had to make it memorable.
The atmosphere in the room was light and joyful, the weight of the past year lifted. Shubman couldn't take his eyes off Kashish, still processing the fact that she was really there, awake, and smiling at him.

Kashish: (laughing) Oh, I'm counting on it.
