"We aren't friends."
Editing song : 4AEM by Grimes
The two girls hurried down the hall, laughing loudly. "Gosh, did you see the dumbass look on their faces?" Cassie breathed as Cho lead her down a quick shortcut. "I'll remember this even on my deathbed -"
"Or at your wedding with George. I'll tell this story as my Maid of Honor speech."
Cassie felt like she had just bit into a lemon. "Not you too, Cho. It's bad enough from Kelsey, I don't want to hear it from you."
Cho sighed, wondering the degree of her friend's feelings. Had Cassie herself even detected she liked him yet? She doubted it and couldn't really blame her. Cassie's life was hectic right now, and it didn't help that George acted like a pest. "Can you honestly say you don't like George?"
"Honestly."
"Not even a friendship, maybe? Didn't you have fun in that tutor lesson last week?" she asked, remembering the black-haired girl coming back and smiling like a fool for hours afterwards.
"Are you out of your mind, Cho? I just let him blab during tutoring so he doesn't bother me as much." Cassie snorted, rolling her eyes as they walked. "Me? Friends with George Weasley? Never."
Cho smirked and rolled her eyes. "Fine. I'll drop it... for now."
"You never let things go, do you?"
"Nope!" she said happily, popping the p.
They wheeled around the corner, almost running straight into Professor Lupin, who was looking just as startled as they were. "Oh, good morning!" he said, chuckling at their antics, his heart dropping as he noticed a very specific smirk on Cassie's face. He had seen that shit eating grin every day for 9 years. "Why do you have those conspiratory looks on your faces?"
"No reason, Professor." Cho said quickly, her eyes darting around as if on the lookout for the twins. "Just excited, that's all."
"Yes, yes, Happy Halloween." he smiled, before his gaze moved on to Cassie, who was looking particularly happy despite the circumstances. He eyed her suspiciously for a moment before realizing she hadn't been told of the bad news. "Ms. Black, has Professor Flitwick had a chance to talk to you this morning?"
Cassie was a little confused, and shook her head no. "Uhh, no, Cho and I had to leave the Great Hall quickly."
"Headmaster Dumbledore and the four Head of Houses have decided that it's not safe for you to leave the castle grounds on account of your father. I'm sorry, but you won't be able to go to Hogsmeade today."
Cassie looked up at him in a mixture of shock and anger. She had been looking forward to this trip for a week, and now she couldn't go? On account of her father as well, this was just adding salt to the wound. She glanced over at Cho, "Great," she said, "Now I'm being punished for something I didn't do, I guess it's not enough to have my mom in constant fear -"
