Some back ground: James is a kind person, offering to help others, but due to him being relatively shy this makes it difficult for him. Due to his shy nature, he mostly stays quiet and distant from others. He is quite smart, which he was made fun of by school bullies, but he had others that help him. He grew up with only his father and has never seen his mother, which affects him when he speaks with girls, causing him to become overwhelmed, freeze up and stutter when he speaks or interact with a girl.
He gets more flustered if there's more than one girl around, making him considered a statue. Even though he only grew up with his father, his dad works heard for James and spends time with him whenever he has time. James is quite interested in history, knowing more than anyone in his class, specifically WW1 and WW2, more of WW2. After he graduated high school, he father unfortunately was unable to get enough money for his college education, but James decided to help his father with expenses.
During his time working at a local restaurant, he met a lady in a business uniform. She soon reveals that she was an owner of a large company. Surprisingly, she saw a lot of potential in the young man and offered him a job at her business. James was shocked by this but humbly accepted her offer. After accepting her offer and heading back home to tell his father the news, he was devastated when two police officers told him that his father died in a car crash caused by two robbers in a police chase. To make matters worse for poor James, his house was caught on fire, the cause? Rioters were nearby and one threw a molotov which cut a nearby tree on fire, then spread to his house.
This left James in a state of despair, having to sleep in his car, since all of his savings were in the house. But things turned for the better as the business lady came to his car and offered him to stay at her home, which he gladly accepted. But this is simply the beginning of what is in store for him.
