SHE WOKE UP FEELING SLIGHTLY MORE GROUNDED, she knew she had to face Mattheo and make a decision. She thanked Pansy for her support and headed back home.

As she walked through the door, she found Mattheo sitting on the couch, his face lined with worry and exhaustion. He stood up as soon as he saw her.

"Lili, where did you go? I was so worried," he said, his voice trembling.

"I stayed with Pansy. I needed some time to think," she replied, trying to keep her voice steady.

"Lili, I know I've messed up. I'm so sorry. Please, can we talk?" Mattheo pleaded.

"We can talk, Mattheo, but I need you to listen this time," Lili said firmly, sitting down.

He nodded, sitting across from her, his eyes filled with desperation.

"Mattheo, I love you, but love alone isn't enough to make this marriage work. I've been the only one fighting for us, going to therapy, trying to hold everything together. Meanwhile, you've been stuck in the same patterns, unable to let go of your ex, and not seeking help for your addiction," Lili began, her voice breaking slightly.

"I know, and I'm so sorry. I'll start therapy, I'll do whatever it takes. Just please, don't leave me," Mattheo begged, tears welling up in his eyes.

Lili took a deep breath, trying to hold back her own tears. "It's not just about starting therapy or blocking your ex, Mattheo. It's about real change. And right now, I don't see that happening. I can't keep living in this cycle of promises and disappointment. It's not fair to me or the kids."

Mattheo looked shattered. "But what about our family? What about the kids?"

"They deserve stability and a peaceful environment, Mattheo. Right now, I can't give them that with things the way they are. I need to think about what's best for them and for myself," Lili said, her voice firm but gentle.

"Please, Lili. Give me one more chance. I swear I'll do better," Mattheo whispered, his voice filled with anguish.

Lili shook her head slowly. "I've given you so many chances, Mattheo. I need to see real change, and right now, I think the best way for that to happen is for us to take a step back. I think it's best if we file for divorce."

Mattheo's face crumpled, and he buried his head in his hands. "I can't lose you. I can't lose the kids."

Lili felt her heart breaking, but she knew this was the right decision. "I need to protect them, and myself, Mattheo. Maybe, with time and real effort, things could be different. But for now, this is what I need to do."

They sat in silence for a long time, the weight of her words settling over them. Lili felt a mix of sadness and relief, knowing she had made the right choice for her and her children's future.
