And that's how I find myself sitting impatiently on my bed, with an outfit I've thought about a little too much for a simple afternoon of studying.

My leg taps on the carpet repeatedly and I keep checking the chat with Minho, waiting for a text from him.

We agreed that he would be here by 4:00 pm.

It's 4:01 pm and he isn't here yet.
I start to panic needlessly.

Doesn't he want to come anymore? Maybe he thinks it will be boring... or maybe he feels used by me.

It's not like he thinks I'm stupid, right? Maybe he's had second thoughts and wants a smarter girl?

My self-destructive overthinking session is interrupted by someone knocking on my door.

I immediately tense up, my eyes wide.

It's not Minho, is he?

But when the door opens, revealing my mother's confused expression, my face goes dim.

I must say that I had hoped for her to be him, at least a minimum.

<What's going on, mum?> I ask, with a dull tone, while I check my notifications for the umpteenth time in ten minutes.

My mum looks behind her, towards the window at the end of the hallway and then returns her gaze to me.

<There's a black SUV parked outside the house for over fifteen minutes.> My mother whispers, for some reason. She keeps looking around in an anxious manner.

Wait, a black SUV?

<Eunbi, if you have to tell me something, tell me. Did you happen to get in trouble with the wrong people?> She then asks, whispering again. I immediately raise a brow, bewildered by her question.

<What? No, why would I?> I say, placing my phone on the bed next to my legs before standing up.

<I don't know! You tell me!> She says, also walking completely inside my room.

<Mum, don't worry! We are not in danger.> I say, definitely not viewing Minho as a potential danger.

<Well, I only know one person with a car like that... but I don't think it's him.> Mum says in a cautious tone, as if she's afraid of hurting me as she refers to Minho.

I haven't told her yet that we're back together. I don't know why... I don't know how to tell her and I haven't even thought about it too much.

<Don't worry, you're going out now, right? You can go, I'll take care of it.> I say, stepping closer to my mum and basically kicking her out of my room.
