_____Today's the day we find out who will be getting the internship. I'm still extremely nervous but I am definitely proud of my work.
Throughout these past few weeks I've had a lot of mixed emotions about how my work is executed. I've definitely learned to appreciate time, having plenty of it to spare.
I head to my self assigned seat and wait for our work to be presented. Chase joins me not long after, not saying a word per usual. We're the only ones here so far, it's probably because she told us to be here at 9:30 but I couldn't help it.
I take the initiative to look around at the books, as many days out of the week I have been here, I never had the pleasure of actually enjoying the beauty of the library. I hit the corner and I see a familiar face. The boy who broke my heart years ago. I quickly retreated into a different area of the library.
Thankfully he didn't see me, that would've been awkward. We hadn't spoke in years and I much prefer we kept it that way. I've moved on from the heart break but trust I will never let another nigga treat me like that again.
After browsing around in the romance section I've come to the conclusion that if I were to be going to Europe how would I return the books on time? So I simply walk away from to books and back to my table where Chase sits in my chair. "Uh, no get out my seat," I say to him pointing to his chair.
"Na I like it better over here," he says looking back down to his phone. "I didn't asked if you liked it there I told you to move," I say getting slightly annoyed at how petty he is being. "I'm good," he smiles. At this point I'm frustrated, I grab him by his shirt and pull him down from my chair. We linger for a moment before I push him to his chair.
"That was extra," he says sitting down. "So was you moving in the first place," I retort, he shrugs looking back at his phone.
"Good morning ladies and gentlemen," Geneva smiles walking over to the projector screen. "Good morning," we say in unison. "Before I announce who has earned their trip to Europe I want to display everyone's hard work," she speaks while setting up the presentations.
Keke's project was up first, she made a silent film about a crime solving game becoming reality. Amari's was next, he made a 25 song album we only listened to the first song though. Ashanti recreated the singer Ashanti's debut album in beats. Chase made a song for each one of his emotions with visualizers and depictions for each emotion.
I can admit that the songs were great. Each one was filled with raw emotion and they were mainly acoustic so you can actually hear the layers of the song. Keke's film was also a favorite of mine, it was an amazing concept and it was executed beautifully.
My presentation was last, I watched it intently depicting any flaws. Thankfully I reviewed my film over a dozen times before submitting it so there were little to none.
"I want to say, all of you have done an excellent job with the time you've spent working on your craft," Geneva speaks. "However for most of you, your time is up. Nevertheless I've seen raw talent from each of you making my decision to pick just one of you difficult. So I will be picking two of you for a bonus challenge,"
My breath gets caught in my throat as I let every word she says sink into me. "Those two people are," Geneva says slowly building up suspense I can't handle. I squeeze my eyes shut and wait for her to finish. "Open your eyes pussy," Chase whispers to me. "Shut up talking to me," I whisper back.
"Keyamani and Chase," Geneva announces. We both snap our head towards her and stare. "Congratulations," she nods her head towards our table. "Oh em gee thank you so much," I say excitedly. "I appreciate you for giving me this opportunity," Chase speaks after me.
