(Same story)

... about 30 minutes later

Third person pov

The hospital was a maze of sterile corridors and white walls, each turn identical to the last. The faint smell of antiseptic lingered in the air, mingling with the underlying scent of anxiety that seemed to permeate the building.

Logan sat in a stiff plastic chair in the waiting room, his leg bouncing nervously, the clock on the wall ticking away the agonizing minutes.

His eyes were red and tired from lack of sleep, but he couldn't tear them away from the double doors leading to the operating rooms.

Finally, the doors swung open, and a doctor in a white coat emerged, his face grave and his steps measured.

Logan stood up abruptly, his heart pounding in his chest. He could read the bad news in the doctor's eyes even before he spoke.

"Mr. Logan," the doctor began, his voice gentle but firm.

"I'm so sorry. We did everything we could, but she didn't make it through the operation."

Logan felt the world tilt on its axis. He gripped the back of the chair for support, his knuckles turning white.

"No," he whispered, shaking his head as if denial could change the reality. "That can't be true. She was supposed to make it."

The doctor placed a comforting hand on Logan's shoulder.

"I understand this is incredibly difficult to hear. Her injuries were more severe than we initially thought. Sometimes, despite our best efforts, it's just not enough."

Logan's mind raced, trying to process the words. The room felt like it was closing in on him. He wanted to scream, to cry, to do anything but accept the truth. But before he could fully react, another sensation tugged at the edges of his consciousness—an inexplicable feeling that something wasn't right.

Logan shook his head violently, his hands gripping the back of the chair for support.

"You don't understand. She can't be gone. She just can't." Tears welled up in his eyes, spilling over onto his cheeks. "She's my cousin. She's all I have left."

The doctor placed a comforting hand on Logan's shoulder, his voice gentle. "I understand this is incredibly difficult to hear. If there's anything we can do—"

Logan pulled away, his expression twisting with grief and anger. "No! You don't understand. You don't get to just say sorry and walk away. She was everything to me. She's supposed to be here!"

The doctor remained silent, his face a mask of professional sorrow.

Logan's voice broke, becoming a choked whisper. "I don't know what I'm supposed to do now. She was the strong one. She kept us together. How am I supposed to go on without her?"

The doctor took a step back, giving Logan the space he needed to process the unbearable news. "I'm truly sorry for your loss. If you need support, we have counselors who can help."
