Chapter 31 / Unwanted Presence

Soobin trudged his way into the kitchen whilst beams of sunlight that were in a dandelion hue wove itself through the curtains of the room. Soobin rubbed his bleary eye as he poured himself a glass of water. He let out a languid yawn before beginning with the routine of making breakfast. He hasn't done this routine for some time so his parents were surprised to hear the sizzling of food being cooked from the kitchen as they awoke to a ring of the alarm clock.

Soobin had a thought of making breakfast the following morning so suddenly just before he dozed off and he did so. He also made a decision to cook lunch for Yeonjun when he arrives home.

Soobin began to prepare their morning meal as he moved along with a hum. His parents were walking down the stairs at the time he was beginning to set the dining table. They shared a conversation regarding school as they ate their breakfast. After their brief parting of words, his parents left. He was walking his way towards his room when his phone had started to vibrate.

" Hey Hyung, are you preparing to leave now? " Soobin said whilst he sauntered towards his room and tousled with his hair with the hand that was unoccupied with holding his phone.

Yeonjun presented a smile. " Yeah, have you eaten breakfast? "

Yeonjun may have been in their yard, with what Soobin could view through the screen. One fact he was certain of was Yeonjun was sitting outside and that he looked ethereal as he did so.

" Yeah, I just finished, how about you? " Soobin answered as he seated himself on the chair by his desk. Yeonjun cupped his cheek onto the palm of his hand for another time as he fixed a stare on Soobin who reciprocated shortly afterwards.

A brief moment of a pause followed along before Yeonjun averted his gaze on his surroundings. " I think my mom and I will just stop by a restaurant "

Soobin was thoroughly puzzled by the subtle yet noticeable action of the older one breaking the eye contact they both had shared. " Oh, are you guys headed to the hospital? " He brushed off a thought that was, perhaps, just a foolish one.

" Yeah, later, I'm in our backyard right now " Yeonjun made an attempt to maintain the eye contact between them but Soobin had taken notice in his eyes that were darting off and on him.

Soobin pursed his lips at the thought.
" Cool, mind showing me around? " Another effort made to lessen the tension that was beginning to make itself apparent between the two of them.

" Nah, stay curious enough that you'll come here " A slight hesitance as he uttered the statement. Yeonjun let out a nervous chuckle after doing so.

Soobin grinned at another side of his that was lacking confidence. " That's a good tactic " He said with a teasing flow.

" Yeah, I'm pretty good " Yeonjun did not make an effort into sharing eye contact with the boy this time.

" And pretty as well " Soobin muttered under his breath as he fixed his narrowed eyes on Yeonjun and let his cheek rest on the palm of his hand.

" Oh, and I've finished planning our date night so don't worry, lov- Hyung " Soobin made his tone different once he took the discomfort of the other in mind although he did supposedly call him the pet name on purpose and attempted for it to be covered as a mistake, just a little tease as he thought so.
