In the peaceful neighborhood of willowwood, a bustling of boxes here and there, disturbed the usual silence.

Young six year old Lily and her family settled into their new home. The elderly Thompsons handed the house keys over along with a box with a cryptic note attached to the wrapper, " To the rightful heir."

Lily found the note weird but didn't mention it. The box was ignored and lay in the corner throughout the day, as the family was busy organizing their belongings.

At night, before bedtime Lily sat on her bed with the box in hand. She tore through the wrapper curiously, to find a meticulously crafted, mini replica of her new home - the same interior as well as the exterior down to the very last brick. It just happened to have an extra door in the corner of what looked like her bedroom. The roof of the dollhouse could be removed and the house could be opened like a book to show its interior. It truly was a work of art.

Lily paid the extra door no mind thinking, 'maybe there used to be a door which was later removed.'

She spent her time playing with the three dolls: a father doll, a mother doll and a small girl doll - just like her family. Her mother soon came to put her to bed. But Lily refused to go to sleep before she put each doll to bed and kept the doll house on her bedroom shelf.

As Lily's mother tucked her into bed, she asked, " How do you like your new gift?"

Lily's face glowed with joy as she described how much she loved it and how detailed and similar to their new home it was. Her mother was happy to hear that she was completely comfortable here already, referring to the building as home even though it's just their first day in this house. She kissed her daughter's forehead before whispering a goodnight. She switched the bedside lamp off, quietly leaving.

Lily slept peacefully, comfortable in her new bed till she was awoken by faint footsteps. She groggily got out of bed and opened the door to peak around, thinking, 'Maybe mom or dad wanted some water' She got out of her room and checked the kitchen and every other place but saw nobody. She thought it was just her imagination and went back to her room.

She continued to sleep until yet again she was awoken by faint footsteps, this time she focused on where the sound was coming from and looked up at her bedroom shelf, to see the dolls moving around as though they were alive. Her heart raced as she looked closely into the dollhouse to see the father doll tending to the fireplace, the mother doll stirring a pot on the stove and the small girl doll playing with a miniature ball in the living room

Terrified, Lily yelled for her parents. They came rushing, worried for their daughter as they heard the fear in her voice. She told them what happened but when they looked at the dolls they lied limp in their beds right where Lily left them, they're painted eyes staring blankly into space.

" Just a bad dream" They reassured her. But, Lily knew otherwise.

The next day, Lily found the real life counter-part of the doll house eerily tidy, the dishes washed the floors swept, her father tending to the fireplace while her mother stirs a pot on the stove, the doll's nightly chores have become her families reality.

Soon Lily gets used to the doll's moving at night and her family doing the same activities during the day. Soon that fear turns to fascination as she observes the dolls live out her families plans for the next day.

Every day she wakes up, gets ready and goes to school. She comes back, eats lunch, does her homework, goes and plays with her neighborhood friends in the evening, talks about her day with her parents at dinner and every night as she lays in bed she watches the dolls like a daily show.

But one moonless night, as Lily lay in bed watching the dolls the small girl doll which represented her moves towards that door, the only thing that didn't match the real house. The door opens to reveal a painting like a staircase leading into a pitch black room on the wall, as if the creator was trying to show a dark basement which the dolls could not enter.

As the doll moved forward as if trying to enter the room it goes limp. Lily waits with baited breath thinking the doll slipped but it doesn't move, she waits and waits for the doll to get up but it doesn't..

Lily tries prodding the doll but it still doesn't move. Lily shifts it's place but it still lies limp and cold in Lily's hand.

This was the first time something done by the dolls the past night didn't happen the very next day, it scared Lily.

She waits till next night but the next night is the same the doll house now has a gloomy aura and the parent dolls stand outside the house while the doll representing Lily lies limp and cold right where Lily left it.

Lily had a feeling the doll was dead.
