I woke up the next day relaxed but hungry. Where's that breakfast in bed when you need it? I stretched out my arms and breathed in all the scents coming from my cabin. The murals on the windows shone different colours on the floor, making it look like a rave. I got out of bed and noticed that I didn't look a peep messy. Wow, Mom. You sure do work your magic. I sprayed some perfume on my neck and my chest and put some moisturiser on my face and arms. Then I put my Camp Half-Blood shirt on (which still looked tacky, I seriously do not know how people are are okay with wearing these,) slipped on a pair of flared jeans that were totally mine and put on some Mary Janes. I swiped a stick of lipgloss over my lips and put on some silvery eyeshadow with mascara. I looked like a supermodel.
I wondered what Luke was doing today. I wondered what Clarah was doing today. I hadn't seen her since that incident yesterday. I walked outside and made my way to the Hermes cabin, looking around at everything. It was still early, so not many people were outside. Sunlight was streaming in through the trees, some kids were talking or doing each other's hair, and one girl
was doing witchcraft. Good for her!I knocked on the door of the cabin, and the front windows were open, jewellery hung from the edge, and graffiti was etched onto the wooden walls and the door. "STOLL TWINZ WERE HERE ;P" was written just above the mailbox. They seemed cool.
A boy with tanned skin and brown curly hair open the door. His eyes widened when he saw me. "Is Luke here?" I asked him. He stared at me blankly for a while before fumbling over his words. "Yeah, uh, he is." "Okay!" I walked straight past him going inside. Some campers were still in their night clothes, emptying bags out of stolen candy and devices. Some campers were already dressed, sharpening their weapons and play fighting each other with them. "Luke?" I called out, and everyone turned to look at me. I heard some whispering among them, but I didn't question it. I just sighed. "Yo, Luke!" A boy called out. Then he turned around and I could see him, his perfect dark curly hair and his brown eyes... the scar made it all the hotter. He instantly got up as I began walking towards him, and he turned me right back around, walking out the door with me.
"Hi Luke!" I stood in front of him, smiling, my hands on his shoulders. "Hey, uh I think you should ask someone to get me before just coming in first." He told me, almost sounding angry. "But why?" I asked him. "Because I don't trust my siblings to be around you. Once you're around them enough for a split second, it's like you're in Romania."
I sat down with Chris, Clarah, Connor and Trevor Stoll, a few other of my siblings and Harmony who was trying to stay in conversation with Clarah while the Stoll brothers asked her weird and weirder questions. I could see Chris' eyes fixed on Harmony's face and my chest began to hurt. Was I jealous? I'd only met Harmony for a few days.
"Hey, Harmony." I called her. She turned around to face me with a bright smile on her face. "Yes, Luke?" She asked me in a heavenly voice, her brown eyes shining in the sunlight. Listen, I know that Aphrodite kids can sometimes be culprits of love magic, but I don't know if she was putting it on.
"I... I wanna show you-" My sentence was cut short. Shit. Her sisters wanted her to sit with them. Harmony turned back to look at Clarah and then me. I nodded my head. "Go on. I'll see you later. I promise. I have something to show you."
Harmony went to join her sisters and I sighed. Then the Stoll twins said together in unison, "Can't have it all, man."
Straight after lunch, I raced to the Hermes cabin. Luke instantly opened the door and took my hand to take me inside. He sat down on one of the beds and tapped the space beside me so I could sit down with him.
"Okay, so I only show this to people I know I can trust so..." Oh gods, was I excited. He trusted me? How cute! I was bracing myself for it and then he pulled out... a pair of shoes? Were they special? They didn't look special. They weren't even designer. I was confused.
Suddenly out of nowhere, a word came from his voice in a lowly tone. "Maia". And wings grew from the shoelaces. Now I get it! "These were a gift from my father when I was claimed." I tilted my head. "When were you claimed?" "Two months ago... probably two and a half."
Wow. Two months ago? It took Hermes seven months to claim someone like him? Wow, what a guy. I nodded my head slowly. "Try 'em on." He told me. My eyes widened but I accepted and I tried them on. He held up his fingers for a countdown and we both counted together, "Three, two, one..." and said Maia. Suddenly I was lifting off the ground the shoes' wings carrying me into the air. "Oh my God!" I exclaimed. Before I got too high, Luke held onto my ankles. He looked up at me and I looked down at him. He looked so good from every angle.
Slowly, Luke pulled me down to the ground and said Maia again. Taking off the shoes, I hugged him. "That was so fun." I laughed. He just smiled and I noticed how close our faces were.
Luke blinked and looked at the ground before looking at me. "You know..." But something cut him off. Someone. A little girl with dark skin and afro puffs poked her head in through the door. Luke broke away from me and walked a few steps toward her. "Come on in, Annabeth." The girl stepped in and hugged Luke's leg as a way of saying hi. That melted my heart. Then she looked up at me and in my softest voice I said, "Hi! I'm Harmony. What's your name?"
"Annabeth." I fake gasped. "That's a really nice name." I smiled. Annabeth smiled back.
