Chapter 42

Long time back when Darrell was a kid.

My father was the king, yes we were royalty from generations as long as I knew and I was the second born after my sister who was eldest of the three siblings after me was my younger brother. Father was really a tough guy and mother was kind hearted woman. Our nation was flourishing in my parents guidance, we had strongest allience with other nations and closest to us were the Russian king Arkadi Laskin. We use to visit them always and every children were close with each other.

Old times there was a misconception that women can't rule of they are first born so I was next king but father wanted my sister to be the first queen and ruler or our nation but mother was against that. And wanted to follow traditions but father ruled her out, but finally after some efforts my mother was on board but on condition that my sister marry someone from other royal family to sit beside her or give up her rights. I know mother was cruel but her thoughts were something believed from generation and father was someone looking up for change.

My sister was a free spirit person, and she was just like my father believed in changing for good. And when father announced her the crown Princess and next to throne she got her learning seriously than ever. She got everything perfectly right and was ready to take over when the time come.  But happiness doesn't last for long.

When my sister was 15 just a day before my birthday we were attacked by our enemies. Yes, you heard right enemies, some got together and attached us. It was a time when we would have lost but our friends and allience were on their way to meet us and celebrate and they help us, at the last moment. That attached was a bit mysterious for us and we thought it was an inside job.

But I think mom had different thoughts than us, she made a huge celebration of our victory and every enjoyed it. Dad, sister and I were on the edge and tried to enjoy as much as we could my younger brother was carefree and happy.

It was almost time for desert to role out when mother stood up and said," Tonight is a great celebration for our victory and a big thank you to our alliance who helped us in winning our battle. We will always be greatful for your help. And I would like to make an announcement as everyone know your crowned princess is almost at the age to take her throne and we have decided to make a union between our family and our old friends Laskin ".

And then king Laskin stood up and said," yes my Second born prince is going to marry the crowned princess and we are joyous to announce this with everyone present here".

With this everyone cheers and clapped around but dad and sister were as shocked as me and we don't know what to say until.

"Enough, and quiet everyone now", my sister shouted.

And suddenly their was pin drop silence even kids stood still in there place.

"Dorothy, keep your voice down lady", mother said.

"Mother father, I think we need to talk right now", sister said and went somewhere with mother and father, being the curious kid I am I went behind them and his behind a wall so they don't see me.

"Why mother , why did you said that in front of everyone there", sister asked.

"What did I do wrong, you need someone next to you if you want the throne and Laskin's are our oldest friend and allience, what's the best way to secure their friendship with us than a marriage", mother scoffed.

"Queen you know it very well that it's our daughter's choice with whom she wants to marry as long as he is from a reputed family", father said.

"King I will always do what's best for nation ", mother said.

"Mother you cannot try to force me doing things I don't want to", sister told her firmly.

"I'm your mother and the queen you will do as I say", mother told her.

"Enough, you will not control my daughter and she can choose who ever she wants and don't interfere into anything queen", dad said and took my sister inside with him leaving my mother alone.

I was still hiding and no one found me I was just about to leave when I heard footsteps I thought maybe father was back so I stay quiet. I left after my father but I have heard something and father needs to know it fast. But celebration were still on and I couldn't let anyone know about what I have heard and how can I go against someone I love so much.

After the celebration father called a meeting and cancelled the marriage that mother set up without consulting anyone it made a drift between my parents from outside queen and King were still in love but we know better our parents just can't seem to interact without fighting and after some time father and mother would start arguments during meals dragging us with them.

But my sister was getting pressured by our mother the most , she tried her best to find someone but mother always made sure to remove them. But finally my father had enough and told mother to get her act together or she'll loss her crown. And I was never able to build the courage to tell father what I heard and Laskin's were getting under his skin.

Finally my sister found an amazing man, he was son of a nearby nation whom we were allience with but before we were born the ties got broken due to some misunderstanding. But when my sister went for a training camp she met him, a perfect example of how to support your partner in every steps. He was amazing, being the second born he was supposed to be his brothers advisor but somehow met my sister and they fall for each other in time of one year.

My sister was seventeen that time and finding a partner was necessary for her or she would have to marry Laskin's son which would have been worst than anything. One day I remember clearly my sister and her fiance yes he proposed to her with everyone's permission which was mesmerizing. Well my sister was home with her fiance and mother was giving bad remarks about everything they were doing and because of that they left and father got into a big argument with mother. But after father went to his office I went after him. And knocked before going inside.

"Father I want to tell you something", I said.

"Speak a bit fast I'm busy with work", he told me.

"Father it's important and I think you should call sister here", I said and dad looked at me but after seeing my face he knew something was serious so he called my sister. And I told him everything I heard that night.
