"This will be the worst and last pain you'll ever experience."
Three, two... one...
"AH-!"
All their heads snapped toward one of the gunmen, who was now engulfed in flames.
Dawn and Hank let out a brief sigh of relief. The blonde uttered, "I told you she'd make a great backup."
He flailed around in a frenzy as the dancing fire traveled around them all in a ring, like sparks on a fuse.
"Over here." A soft voice rang out in a sing-song tone, yet it echoed throughout the alleyway.
Right about then, a pair of hands emerged behind one of the other men, who had his pistol pointed at the two heroes. They grabbed hold of his head and snapped his neck before disappearing before a storm of bullets rained down on them.
"Boss, what do we do-?"
"Just shoot them!" the man holding the giant shears yelled.
The remaining men cocked their guns and pointed them at the pair.
Bang, bang-
Hank instinctively grabbed the blonde's head and pushed them both down, expecting to be punctured and everything to go black. But upon peering his eyes open, he spotted the brunette speedily deflecting each and every one of the bullets until they all ran empty.
"We're out!" one man yelled to his boss.
But before he could open his mouth, a shadow formed behind him, and in a split second, his shears were taken from him and stabbed into his crotch, leaving him to scream out in pain before collapsing to the ground.
And then, what looked to be a birdarang flew through the air and embedded itself into another man's eye.
The last three men looked at each other before simply retreating, running to the back of the van but were left with a dead end due to the ring of fire blocking their escape.
A man who froze in his tracks was lifted into the air, followed by gunshots shooting up at him as he screamed in agony and was dropped onto a shelf.
Jules could hear the screams from afar as Dawn hoisted Hank up, throwing his arm over her shoulder. "Wait-no, set him down. I can heal him."
"Go after him, Jules," the man groaned, nodding his head toward the next, louder scream.
She flinched, looking between the pair and the screams before taking off.
She could tell she was getting close as she could hear live grunts emerging from farther back, but that quickly morphed into a blood-curdling scream.
"Dick!" she shouted, coming to a stop when she saw the so-called hero standing over the man on the ground, viciously stabbing him.
She sped up and slid down to block his arm. "Dick! Stop it! Stop!" she screamed, tugging on his arm that was holding the pocket knife. One hand then reached out to cup one side of his face. "Richard Grayson-stop it right now!"
His arm froze in the air, with her one arm wrapped around his biceps. He slowly brought it down, and she took the blade away from him, dropping it to the ground.
He panted heavily, one hand reaching up to feel hers on his bloodied face. But she flinched away, her lips quivering now that she got a good look at him, and his manic eyes..

Silence filled the air. Dense, heavy, uncomfortable silence.
