Annalise, Cedric, Izzy the twins and I all became close after the first day. By the time it became October we all were good friends us girls all spent some time together when Quidditch practices started. The twins were beaters on the Gryffindor team and Cedric was Captain and Seeker for the Hufflepuff team.
We had been invited to watch but quite a few students didn't trust me because of my last name. Izzy was being picked on for being a muggle born even though she honestly was a half-blood. Not that we were going to tell anyone that. Cedric ended up standing up for her and they got even closer. Fred had admitted to me, George and Izzy that he was interested in Annalise but was a little scared of Cedric.
I found it funny that they liked each other but would never admit it to the other. Well at least not yet... I will be helping them... it'll just have to wait a bit.
Annalise seemed way too sweet to be a Slytherin. Well unless she got angry then she was terrifying. But it was rare and difficult to get her angry. I had learned they are pure-bloods, her favorite color had been a light pink or blue most of her life. She loved reading and she wasn't a huge fan of pranks when they were pulled on her but other people she had no problems with.
Harry, Ron and Hermione wouldn't spend anytime with me. Not that I truly expected Harry or Hermione too, they didn't know me.
Hermione had talked to me a handful of times about classes and we got along but she was cautious because of who my father is which is understandable she hadn't grown up with me like the Weasley's had.
Ron was just pissed I was a Slytherin, it honestly hurt as we had grown up together and I truly saw him as my younger brother. Harry was worried I was like my father and was siding with him or would be siding with him.
"Hey Cassy, I I I'm sorry. I shouldn't have pushed you away and glared at you. You maybe a Slytherin but you're still you." Ron says as he Harry and Hermione plop down near us.
"Did you get there on your own Ronnie?" I ask him
"No I may have talked to Fred and George. Saying you and the little blond girl are bad friends... and when they asked why I I *sighs* I didn't truly have a good reason." He stutters out "I also may have written Bill and Charlie after to complain..."
"Ron she's still her she's still the older sister you never wanted." Izzy says wrapping her arm around my shoulder with a smile. "And writing Bill and Charlie was a bad idea."
"Isa stop. Ron I forgive you, although she is right Bill and Charlie are extremely protective of me and you know this." I sigh turning to Harry and Hermione "Harry nice to see you. Hermione how are you doing with all of your classes?" I ask Hermione
"Well it's tiring but so many of my classes are so interesting." She states honestly
"Hello Mae, it's nice to see you too. I have a question?" Harry stats I nod signaling I'm listening. "Why did Ron call you Cassy?"
"Oh, My full name is Cassiopeia Maeve Lupin-Black." I tell him shrugging.
"Now tell them all of it." Izzy tells me
"Cassiopeia is a constellation and follows the tradition of the blacks. The mythology for that one was my mother's favorite." I smile "In her letters she said she knew my father wouldn't have wanted to keep the tradition but..." I shake my head "Any-"
"No, but what?" Cedric asks softly but somehow still firm leaving no room for arguing.
"But she," I sigh "She couldn't keep any of her families traditions with my name or birth. Not even her wedding. So she keeper one from my father's." I send tham all a shy smile.
"Okay now continue with your name." Fed tells me smiling knowingly.
"Okay, Freddie." I reach out and ruffle his hair turning back to the new people who haven't heard this before to continue. "Maeve means intoxicating or she who rules and my mother wrote she just had a feeling that one day I will technically be a ruler. I still haven't figured that out." I explain with a shrug.
"That's curious." Annalise mumble
"What about the last names?" Cedric asks
"Oh, my mother wanted me to have my father's last name. So I was born Cassiopeia Maeve Black. But Remus"
"Professor Lupin" Izzy says
I chuckle continuing. "Raised me as his own. I know what my parents were like in school and their friend group through letters from my mother, pictures and stories but be that as it may Remus Lupin is the only father I've ever had. So the Christmas after I turned 13 I asked M-Remus if I could change my last name. He agreed."
"Okay why don't you go by Cassiopeia?" Harry asks "Oh sorry if that was rude. I didn't mean for it to be." He mumbles blushing slightly
Izzy and I chuckle "I was wondering the same." Annalise states
"When I was really little my mom would call me her little Angel, Cas or Mae I never truly knew why." I trail off I shake my head. "I introduced myself as Cas when I met Remus. He never has called me Cassiopeia unless I'm in trouble and would normally use Cassy or Mae while I was growing up."
"Oh that makes sense." Annalise says everyone nodding agreeing.
I look at the time before rushing to my feet startling most of them. "Oh I'm sorry, but I have a private lesson with Remus. I'll see you all later?" I ask they nod there heads as I walk off heading to our living area in the castle to learn about my mother's tribe's history.
