Episode 6 Continued - Murder on the Agenda

"Ugh, another one?" I said, lashes lowering as I read the note the king sent. "I swear that the guard just sucks at their job."

Sebastian poured my afternoon tea into a cup, eyes closed as he kept a smile.

"Seriously," I said then, slapping the note on my desk, "am I just the go-to police now?"

Sebastian stood and walked over, setting my tea in front of me. "Well, you are well protected. And the king doesn't want to lose too many officers to these common inconveniences."

I picked up my tea and sipped it, lashes lowering. "They could use less dimwits, if you ask me." I set the tea on the plate, and caught a small cookie, taking a bite. After swallowing, I said, "Seriously... this is like the fifth trafficking ring he asked me to demolish. Don't these men ever learn their lessons?"

Sebastian's lashes lowered. "Which king of ring?"

"Drugs," I said then, sighing, "the usual. Kidnapping innocent men, women, and children and forcing them to transfer drugs." I took another bite. "It's too much work if you ask me; they have to kidnap the victims, convince them, and have enough staff to keep everything in check. It's stupid. You're better off working at an office building." I sipped my tea again. "Let alone the amount of planning, sneaking, and hiding they have to do to avoid the police."

"The police don't know?" Sebastian said then, brows drawing together.

I took another bite of the cookie and swallowed. "What do you think? They're getting dumber by the day, I'm telling you." I sighed then. "It's only the king who knows. Mainly because he's noticing that the population of deaths and illnesses from drugs are rising. With how it rises so fast, and the specific people who are targeted, it's most probably a trafficking ring. It's an obvious assumption."

Sebastian set his finger on his chin. "I see... and did the king mention who the leader of the gang was?"

I sipped my tea. "No." I then gazed up, smiling. "That's why I have you. You'll figure it out for me, won't you, Sebastian?"

His lips curled almost immediately, and he bowed before me before standing up straight. "Of course, my young lord."

"Then go now," I said, drinking my tea. "And be fast."

"At once, master."

And he was gone from the room, leaving a sudden wind gust to blow my hair over my face.

I brushed it back in place with a hand and stood, sighing as I pushed my plate on the other part of my desk and stepped to the door.

The moment I opened the wood, I froze.

Sebastian stood there, smiling with his eyes closed. "Found him."

I blinked. "That was fast."

He just gazed down at me. "You said to be fast, my lord, so I was."

I then sighed and turned back to my desk, stepping over before setting down.

After crossing my legs and setting a cheek in my hand, I gazed up at him. "Care to share with the class, Sebastian?"

He just closed the door behind him and stepped over to my desk. "The trafficking ring is owned by outcasts of mafias."

"Outcasts?" I said then, gazing up.

He nodded. "Indeed, my lord. Every person working in that ring are somehow connected to a mafia." He set a wad of files on my desk, making me blink. "These are all the guards and leaders. All connected to Irish, Italian, and Chinese mafias."

"Why specifically those three?" I said, picking up the files.

"Well... those three mafias were originally in London a year ago, but they decided to go in a secret meeting together to form some alliance with each other. Although, they were reported, and the police arrived before they could leave. So, all the members disbanded and went their own separate ways... the ones that weren't arrested that is."

"And they formed a trafficking ring?" I said then, brows drawing together. "As a new job?"

He nodded.

I set the files down. "Well... I guess they were already criminals. Which one's the leader?"

"Well... there are three options. One from each mafia. All three have a higher rank among the others they work for, so they all could be leading it."

I sighed and nodded, setting my cheek in my hand. "Alright then... well, is lunch ready yet?"

Sebastian bowed and stood fully. "Indeed, my lord. Shall I bring it?"

I nodded. "Can't think on an empty stomach, now can I?"

He just smiled. "No, that wouldn't be good." He then turned and started off to the door. "I'll be back soon, okay, my lord?"

"Alright," I said, gazing back down at the files. "Hurry up, my stomach's killing me."

He just left the room, closing the door behind him.

I sighed and kept my cheek in my hand.

But suddenly, I felt something off, and my brows drew together.

And that's when I felt a figure move behind me, and shot up from my chair, about to run for the door. "Sebasti-"

But a sudden force cracked on the back of my head, and everything went black.
