[Somewhere in the Pacific]

Our hero was swimming to the nearest ship after his squad saved him. Being picked up by a dinghy and returned to the warship. A senior officer walked up to him.

S.O.: Where are-

Dušan: Dead.

The officer looked down and bit his tongue as Dušan handed him a USB flash and documents, which were in zip bags and headed to his quarters in silence. The world around him seemed to fade away and all the sounds quieted down. As soon as he reached his living quarters, he immediately sat down on a chair and tried to recollect himself.

Six families lost their sons... because of my lack of organization and communication...

He thought to himself, before putting his hands over his face and holding back tears. After a few moments, he made the sign of the cross and clasped his hands together.

Dušan: Let them be in a better place, they've already passed through hell... forgive me, Father...

His voice was shaky and quiet, it was the opposite of what most of his brothers-in-arms would hear - the raspy, deep, and monotone voice that held authority. Looking down in silence, lost in thought, as a single tear goes down his face, something which didn't happen in the last 20 or so years.

Dušan: One more chance... that's all I want...

Closing his eyes and lowering his head while he leaned against the table, he felt a sudden shift in his surroundings, opening them again, he was in a black void with a figure whose appearance was in shadows, sitting across from him.

Dušan looked around in confusion before looking at the figure, he was bout to question before the man interrupted him.

???: I know you are confused. And I'm here to explain everything to you.

Dušan nodded in silence.

???: You're quite an interesting fellow... and your... skills are quite exceptional, not to mention your current position.

Dušan raised his eyebrow and listened to him, his curiosity piqued.

???: I'd like for you to... "fix" something. You can decline, but it would be a shame to waste such potential.

Dušan: What do I get from it?

???: ... I am not at liberty to say...

They stared at each other in silence, Dušan contemplating whether or not to accept, and the man waiting for his answer.

???: Time is ticking, Mr. Petrović.

Dušan: ...I'll do it.

???: Excellent choice. Here, you might want to take this.

He handed Dušan new clothing and equipment to make things a bit easier for him. Dušan put on the clothing and the equipment and looked at the man.

Dušan: So what now?

???: I'll let you roam around and figure the rest yourself. A hint: a group of 13 will cross your path, they will be your... comrades. One would really stick out from the rest.

Dušan: Alright.

???: Good luck... Danilo. I've left a little present for you... as thanks for lending me a hand. And a piece of advice: loot and scavage every abandoned building, you have documents and weapons you'll find that are of great use. For now, goodbye.

Danilo nods and stands up as his surroundings change again, everything around him is a barren land, mixed with snow, dirt, and sand, with abandoned buildings scattered throughout the horizon. A black horse stood not too far from him, with a saddle and everything. He walked over to it and got on horseback.

Danilo: Let's try and keep ourselves alive, horse...

Grabbing the reins they galloped to explore and scout the area and find anything that could help Danilo.

When he arrived at an abandoned building, he got off the horse and entered the building with nothing but a flashlight, a knife, and a prayer to God. While going through the corridors, he found decayed remains of a human having a pair of binoculars around the neck. Danilo took them and cleaned them a bit before noticing a piece of paper held in the hands of the skeleton. He took it and it turned out it was a map with the location where he was marked on the map.

Danilo: "The City"? Such originality...

He closely inspected the map and took as much information as he could, before placing it in his breast pocket and looking at the skeleton.

Danilo: It was a pleasure doing business with you, may you find rest. Wherever you might be.

He got up and searched the rest of the building which was accessible to him before returning to his horse and getting on it, riding to another building...
