As I was in my second to last class for the day, I got a text from Sienna.
"Going to Lindsay's house after school, care to join us?"
I had to give that question some thought. I knew that my parents would want me home. I knew that they would want me to start studying.
But giving it a second thought, I'm seventeen years old. I am perfectly capable of making my own decisions. At least in a case like that.
So if I wanted to hang out with my friends all night instead of going home and keeping my nose in some book I have no interest in, I could do that, right?
"Sure, can I bring Ethan?" I texted back.
Within maybe two minutes, Sienna texted back.
"Nope."
"Oh come on, I want to spend time with him too" I texted.
"Fine, but any inappropriate PDA and you're both leaving." Sienna replied.
If there was one thing I didn't like about Sienna, it was the fact that she always tried to control everything. Who was she to tell me whether or not I could bring Ethan? I mean, it wasn't her house we were going to. I understood that she didn't like Ethan for whatever reason, and I understood that sometimes Ethan could be irritating. But at the end of the day, he's my boyfriend. I love him, and Sienna should accept that no matter what. Lindsay had no problem accepting it, so I had no clue why it was so hard for Sienna.
"Maybe I'm just overthinking this," I thought to myself. "Sienna's probably just annoyed with this morning's situation and letting it get to her. Who knows?"
I got through my last couple of classes for the day and got on the bus home. Waiting for me there was Sienna and Lindsay. I plopped down in the seat next to them and set down my bags. I didn't feel the need to change clothes that afternoon. Not only because the sweater ripped, but because I was going with Sienna, Lindsay, and Ethan, not home.
"Am I the only one that has an annoying teacher in all of my classes?" Sienna asked.
"I already hate my Science class," I replied. "The teacher already put out there that she isn't helping anyone this year, and that they have to get good grades on their own."
"Mr. Bussell moved up to 12th grade English, and now I have him again." Lindsay said. She hated Mr. Bussell. He called Lindsay's parents right before her sweet sixteen last year, and it was cancelled.
"Well at least now we're out for the day," Sienna said. She turned to Lindsay and gave her a devious smirk.
"Lindsay, you got any drinks at your house?"
"I think so," Lindsay said. "Why, looking to get a little tipsy tonight?"
"If it'll help me forget about today." Sienna said.
Sienna and Lindsay loved to drink. They would drink away all their problems, or just drink for the thrill of it. I didn't drink with them. I just always thought underage drinking was unnecessary.
I was considering having a drink or two that night though. With everything that was going on, I needed it.
We pulled up at Lindsay's house, and instead of just Lindsay getting off of the bus, we all did. We went into Lindsay's backyard and sat on her deck.
Lindsay went into the house and when she returned, she came with three drinks. She handed one to Sienna, and I guess assuming I didn't drink she got two drinks for herself.
"Let me at that drink" I said.
Lindsay stared at me in shock and said "Raina, stop playing around."
