Salem's POV
I can't believe I let myself forget, even for just a moment, that he killed my brother, his father killed my child, our child. The entire walk back to my dorm I was trying to figure out how I could let myself forget, the other night I could blame it on the alcohol and pills, but I have no excuse, God! I despise him. Stuck in my thoughts I don't realize where I am, when I finally get out of my thoughts, I am standing in the middle of the dark forest not knowing how I got here or what I'm here for, I see something out of the corner of my eye, a Dryad. It's looking at me curiously not knowing if I'm here to harm it.
"Hello, I'm not here to harm you, I don't know why I'm here, but I promise I'm not here to hurt you" I speak slowly not to frighten the dryad, I've never seen a dryad in person, but my father spoke highly of them, they're supposed to be very powerful but, this one just looked frightened, which isn't normal "Is something wrong?"
I hear a voice from behind me "I'm the reason you are here." I look behind me and see a beautiful elven lady, Possibly the matriarch. I looked at her curiously. "There is a problem, Mythical creatures have been going missing-"
"Isn't that normal, they can't catch all of the poachers, even if I wish they could," I say confused about why it's important enough to bring me out here
"Yes, however, it's not just creatures; it is young witches too, and the creatures that are disappearing are powerful creatures that are very difficult to catch." her words shock me, poachers have never been brave enough to try and steal witches, or the dangerous creatures. "We had our best mentally talented elven, link your minds so you would subconsciously end up here, we thought since your father is talented in creature knowledge, maybe you would be too and could help out before more of my people and your people go missing."
"I'll contact my father and see if he has heard anything, and I'll try and figure out what is going on." I look at her and promise her I'll do everything I can and then I head back to my dorm and write a letter to my dad, who I haven't talked to since I was 13, I start writing.
Dear dad,
I bet you weren't expecting to receive a letter from me, and I wasn't expecting to send one, I was stuck frozen in a dream, or actually a nightmare, I witnessed you and Mom dying over and over again for 25 years, never being able to wake up, until one day I was finally able to break through the spell. it's been a week since the spell was broken, I'm sorry I haven't contacted you sooner, I've been adjusting to being 25 years in the future. Anyways the main reason I'm contacting you is there's a problem around here, I can't send it in a letter, something suspicious is happening and I don't need the information getting into the wrong hands, plus I think it's time I get to see my dad, so if you'll allow it, I would love to come visit you, maybe spend a few days with you, I miss you, the last time we were face to face, mom packed our things and we left you, I never wanted to leave, I wish mom would have been able to resist the pressure from her family our lives could have been so much better. Anyways we can talk more when I get there.
Your Damaged Daughter,
Salem Ara Scamander ♡♥♡♥
Tears stream down my face as I finish the letter, I fold the letter, and seal it with my custom wax seal that has a heart with an arrow going through it. I walk up to the owl tower, I give the letter to my owl, and she takes it immediately flying to go deliver it. I turn around and Mattheo is staring at me, I roll my eyes and try to walk past him, but he grabs my arm. "Fuck off Mattheo-"
