Aubrielle's POV
It is far too early to be awake and functioning right now. It's seven in the morning and I'm walking over to Sawyer's place to meet him before we go out for coffee. Although, I'm not sure if I'm walking or if I'm more so stumbling my way over. I send him a quick text letting him know I'm close to his apartment before continuing my trek to said apartment complex.
I push the button thingy that alerts him that I'm here and the door unlocks to let me in. I internally sigh when I see the three flights of stairs I have to climb to get to his place.
I finally make it to his floor and knock on his door. Although, it's not him who opens the door.
"What are you doing here?" Elly asks, flipping her black hair over her shoulder. Ah, shit on me. I swear, she may be a literal spawn of Satan. Now that I think about it, her red acrylic nails do look similar to claws. Does Satan even have claws? Elly clears her throat, pulling me from my thoughts.
"I'm here for Sawyer. Could you let him know I'm here for our coffee run?" I ask, a hint of annoyance in my voice.
"You do realize that I'm his girlfriend, right? Not you," she whispers, careful not to let Sawyer hear her.
"Okay, thanks for reminding me for the thousandth fucking time. Now, run along and tell Sawyer I'm waiting for him," I say with a fake smile. She huffs before slamming the door in my face. She must have at least done what I asked her though, because Sawyer opened the door a minute later.
"Sorry about that, she must be in a mood. Ready to go?" He asks, closing the door behind him
"I've been ready, cupcake." He raises an eyebrow at me for my nickname of choice, but begins walking away before commenting on it.
"So, we're doing nicknames today?" He asks, and I nod quickly with a stupid smile on my face. "Alright, short stack of pancakes, which coffee shop are we going to today?" He asks with a smile on his face. I, on the other hand, scoff before answering.
"For the record, I'm 5'7, which is taller than the average woman. It's not my fault you're a fucking skyscraper." He's not too tall, standing at 6'2, but he still towers over me. "And to answer your question, I want to go to 'The Bean' today." He laughs before nodding and heading down the stairs.
We make it outside and the crisp autumn air hits me like a brick. I continue walking beside Sawyer as my teeth begin to chatter. It's colder than it usually is in October. Normally I'd be fine in fall weather until mid November, but not today. Sawyer, like always, notices and pulls me into his side. Not before ruffling my blonde hair, which was in a cute French braid over my shoulder.
"Gee, thanks, Johnson. Now I'm cold and my hair is a mess." He laughs before letting me go and shrugging off his hoodie.
"Here, just take this." I smile before taking it from him and putting it on. We walk through the doors of the coffee shop not long after and I take a seat at a nearby table while Sawyer goes to make an order. He comes back with two drinks in hand.
"Alright, chai latte, your fall drink that you consume by an unhealthy amount, and a water for me because all coffee sucks. But I got a muffin so it's fine." I laugh and thank him for the drinks.
