{A/N: Hi, everyone! I hope you guys have watched MCD because there's going to be a fair amount of references from this point on. I finally got around to watching it in full and I really enjoyed it! Also, this chapter is around 10k words long...Next chapter is shorter I think.}

TW: alcohol consumption, cursing (more so than usual), and harassment

Friday, February 14th. Valentine's Day.

The ladies had gone over to Aphmau's residence to get prepared for tonight's group date. They each had brought their dresses, hair products, and some makeup products. All of which were scattered about the floor in the living room. While some might call this pandemonium, others would call it girlhood.

"Guys, this isn't that serious. Why do we have three different cans of hairspray?" Katelyn asked as she held one up in the air.

"That one's for volume," Nicole answered as she snatched it out of her hand and headed into the bathroom where Lucinda was doing people's hair. Katelyn groaned loud enough for the girls to hear.

"I'm just saying that this is just a night out. It's not that big of a deal," Katelyn explained, plopping down on the couch where Kawaii~Chan and Aphmau sat before her on the floor. As much as she talked, her bite was weak considering she had Lucinda pin her hair up to match her outfit for tonight. A white sleeveless top and navy blue dress pants. She even allowed KC to put some makeup on her face.

"Katelyn~Sama are you not excited to go on your date with Travis~Kun tonight?" Kawaii~Chan pouted, putting a pin at doing Aphmau's makeup to look up at her on the floor. Aphmau gave Katelyn a knowing look, even with her unbothered facade, the girls read her like an open book.

"Of course, I'm excited," Katelyn sighed, a small smile gracing her face. Kawaii~Chan caught it quickly.

"Oh! Does Katelyn~Sama want to talk about it?" KC pressed as she leaned up against her legs. Katelyn pushed her away slightly.

"No!" she lied. Given the chance, she'd gush all day about how excited she was, and let the butterflies in her stomach tell everyone how nervous this made her feel. None of her friends knew how long she stood in front of her closet as she poured over every piece of clothing she had. No one knew as she scoured the internet to see whether she should put her hair up or down. Everything had to go right. No unnecessary temper, and especially no drama. For the first time in a long time, Katelyn was willing to do a lot to let Travis know that she was worth having a relationship with. The tables had definitely turned tonight.

Before Aphmau could push her to talk, her phone rang beside her. The caller ID was one she wasn't too familiar with but would have to answer just to be sure. After all, Aphmau was waiting for that fated call back to a few job interviews. She grabbed her phone and headed into the kitchen.

After Aphmau came back from the community college a couple of weeks ago, it dawned on her that it was time to pick herself back up. The world was still moving and, if she didn't move with it, she would be letting more than herself down. Thankfully, Irene was gracious enough to give Aphmau plenty of opportunities to apply for new positions in various places. As long as she could get something, she'd be doing a whole lot better than when she had nothing.

Answering the phone, she held her breath as soon as she said hello.

"Hello, this is Molly calling from Phoenix Law. Am I speaking to Aphmau?"

"Laurance, have you seen my tie?" Garroth called out as he made his way to his boyfriend's room, hopping on one foot while trying to put a shoe on the other. "We're going to be late! Where's Dante?"
