Year 117 AC

Between the bustling servants in the Red Keep and the small council's meetings about bland political pursuits were the flourishing gardens, and within the vibrant flowers were the sweet Princess Vissera and the nervous Prince Aemond. The latter was laying in Vissera's lap as she read to him and brushed her fingers through his pale hair, the sweet intimacy of the activity left Aemond flushed.
Ever since the two were babes they could be found together, where Vissera went Aemond followed, you could not spot Vissera without Aemond. The bond between the two was deep and they understood one another before they understood themselves. Aemond often found himself confiding in Vissera regarding his lack of dragon, over the years the two came to share the same longing for a majestic creature to call their companion as her egg hadn't hatched either. "We are destined to ride grown dragons Aemond, powerful ones who we shall fly across the realm with and eat cakes until the end of our days!" she would often tell him and he'd let himself imagine it. His sweet Vissera being by his side forever as they conquered the desserts of every nation. Childish and borderline foolish it would be coming from anyone but her.
"Aemond did you eat the rest of my rasberry tart"
Snapping out of his brief daze he turned his attention to the girl he'd robbed only seconds ago.
"No I watched you eat it earlier" refuted Aemond, a poor lie and he was aware but he couldn't bring himself to allow anything but Vissera to occupy his mind for the moment.
"You lie Aemond I can see the crumbs on your tunic!"
"They are from you as you chomped your tart back dropping them all over me!"
Vissera not believing his lies quickly closed the Targaryen history book the two were reading and shot straight up, heading for the kitchen to retrieve a replacement for her rasberry tart
"Sera please I am sorry I didn't think you'd care so much" Aemond said quickly making his way to her, panicking thinking he had offended her
Hearing how upset he sounded she quickly halted in her footsteps and swiftly turned around confused causing him to walk straight into her, had she not grabbed his arms and held him up against her he would've been on the hard concrete flooring of the hallway. Feeling her warmth so close to him caused Aemonds traitorous cheeks to flush pink
"Oh tis alright Aemond but now I must replace the tart you so rudely stole" she replied with a light giggle"
Not waiting for a reply she quickly linked their arms and sped off towards the kitchen, upon their swift arrival with Vissera half dragging Aemond the servants greeted her politely and she in return asked them of their well-being. This was not abnormal as Vissera would try her best to ensure the maids and servants were well taken care of, well she did as much as she could as a young child but her efforts were more than appreciated. Word of her gentle manner and kind nature spread near and far across the Realm, many being surprised at how caring a member of the royal family was towards common folk.
"My deepest apologies Princess but the tarts aren't to be prepared until dinner" said a servant
"Please you must understand Helaena's spider got loose and frightened me and I dropped mine on the ground!" immediately after the words left her mouth Vissera knew it was a far fetched tale but she would never risk Aemond getting into the slightest trouble.
Giving her perplexed looks both Aemond and the servant knew of the friendship between Helaena and Vissera, the latter could be found almost everyday climbing trees, digging through bushes and getting her finest dresses dirty with mud in the pursuit of the insect Helaena was curious about that day. The Velaryon Princess found her aunt utterly fascinating, she was not deaf to the whispers of Helaena's supposed insanity but she payed such people no mind. If their minds were so barbaric and underdeveloped that they could not appreciate the dreamers kindness and wisdom they were not worth the occupation of her mind.
"Is that right your grace, I seem to recall you with a spider on your nose in the name of the Princess Helaena's entertainment" inquired the giggling maid, had she been speaking to any other member of the royal family in such a manner they would have her head but Vissera was unlike them all.
With a prominent pout upon her rosey pink lips she responded "Are you denying your Princess of the realm"
Aemond, with her arm still in his, could not suppress a small giggle at her childish behaviour and it seems the servant could not either
"I'd never dream of it Princess, now I believe the Queen is expecting her son in her chambers"
Still slightly pouting she turned to her dearest friend once the maid had walked away "I'll see you during dinner?" she asked in a hopeful tone conveying how much she truly enjoyed his company
"Of course Sera, if I finish with mother early I shall come find you before then" Aemond told her as he hesitantly unlinked their arms already missing her warmth. With a nod, joyus smile and a peck on the cheek the young Princess turned away to find her brothers to shower with her affections.

Authors Notes:
the actual story/timeline will start in the next chapter, the first one was more just to establish Vissera and Aemond's relationship, it's very much puppy love currently but the chapters will get longer
