Sam sat in the chair with a bottle of bourbon in his hand. It's been three months since Sage had died, and he wasn't taking it well. Dean had come back but Sam wasn't as welcoming as he should have been. Dean, of course, felt like it was his fault that Sage was gone. Although he didn't know her, he felt responsible for her death.

THE NIGHT OF THE RITUAL

"Sammy we can't do it. You know she wouldn't have wanted this," Dean told Sam.

"You didn't even know her. You don't get to say what she wanted or not," Sam told him.

"Sam you need to give her a proper burial!" Dean told him.

"Shut up Dean! It's my fault she's dead," Sam finished.

"Don't blame yourself Sam. You didn't know this would happen to her," he told Sam.

Sam ignored Dean and went to get her body out of the trunk.

The blanket came off of Sage revealing her face to Sam. A small tear came out of his eye.

"Sam it's okay, but we can't just bury her," Dean interrupted.

"We can and we will. Now are you going to help me or not?" He asked Dean.

Dean helped place her body gently in the hole they dug for her.

ONE MONTH LATER

"Sam I found a case," Dean told him.

Sam ignored his brother and continued drinking his bourbon.

"Sammy you know it's not healthy for you to drink this much," Dean told him.

"You're going to talk to me about drinking?" Sam asked Dean.

"Touché, but we need to get you out of the house. I'm going crazy here, and you need to go outside. Come on Sammy," Dean told Sam.

Dean felt for Sam. For some reason, every girl he's ever loved died, and this girl died for both Sam and Dean. She sacrificed herself for Dean's life.

"Sammy?" Dean asked.

"Fine. Let's go," Sam replied.

After a routine procedure, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. They started walking to the car.

"I told you Dean, this wasn't anything Supernatural," Sam said.

"Yeah well it's good that we got out of the house for once," Dean said.

Sam ignored that remark when he saw something that seemed out of the ordinary. He saw a woman that looked oddly familiar standing by a tree.

"Sam?" Dean asked.

Sam ran over towards the woman standing by the tree. Dean stared at him running.

He reached the woman and turned her around.

"Sage?" Sam asked.

She turned around facing Sam with a confused look on her face.

"Oh, I'm sorry ma'am, you just look like someone I knew," Sam said before the lady walked away.

Sam stood there heartbroken. Dean pulled the car up and got out.

"Come on Sammy, let's go," he said.

Sam got in the car and drove in silence.

TWO MONTHS LATER

It had been two months since Sage had died.
Sam had become more involved in drinking and finding ways to bring her back. So far he had found absolutely nothing. Dean was becoming concerned for his brother. He hated the fact that Sam was drinking away his life, but Dean did the same thing.

Just like Sam, Dean was finding a way to bring Sage back. He couldn't find anything. Although he didn't know her well, he felt like he owed her some part of his life.

Sam left to go out for a little. Dean was concerned for where he was going, but he just let him leave. He knew he couldn't stop his brother.

Sam pulled up to a crossroad. He got out of the impala and placed everything he needed in the middle of the intersection.

"Well well well. Look what we have here. Winchester? What could you possibly want now?" a demon asked Sam.

"I want Sage back," Sam said.

"Aww sweetie she's never coming back," the demon said.

"You can have my soul for hers," Sam told her.

"Oh please, her soul is far more valuable than yours," she told Sam.

"Come on, you have to do something," Sam said.

"I don't have to do anything Sam. Your girlfriend is burning in hell and there's nothing you can do," she said.

Sam took his knife and drove it into the demon. The demon fell to the floor dead.

CURRENTLY

Sam took another sip of his bourbon. He was ruining his liver day by day, but he didn't care. Sam couldn't live without Sage. He couldn't function correctly and he could never imagine a life without her. He'd been hunting for a little with Dean, but he'd been seeing Sage everywhere. He'd been having nightmares about her death.

Sam was taking her death horribly.

Dean came out and looked at his brother.

"Damn it Sam," he said.

"What Dean?" Sam asked.

"Stop drinking like this! You're going to get sick," he said.

"What's your point?" Sam asked.

"My point is that I need you sharp when we are hunting together. I don't want you not being able to walk properly when we are trying to kill something," Dean said.

Dean saw Sam getting worse and worse by the day. He felt sorry for him and he wanted to help, but he didn't know what to do.

"Dean I can take care of myself and so can you," Sam said.

"Sam no you can't. You can barely walk to your bedroom," Dean said.

"Damn it Dean! I don't need you sitting here and nagging me about my drinking! I can handle myself!" Sam yelled.

"No you can't! You're a wreck! Can't you see?! Ever since Sage died, I haven't seen you without a drink! You're killing yourself right now!" Dean yelled back.

"So what if I am Dean!?"

Dean was in shock by these words. He didn't repeat anything because there was a knock at the door.

They looked at each other confused.

"Don't worry Dean. I got it," Sam said before walking towards the door. He grabbed his gun and held it to himself.

Sam went to grab the door handle. He opened it revealing a woman at the door. One who looked more familiar than any of the girls he's seen in the last three months. It took Sam a moment to register who was standing in front of him.

"Sage?" Sam asked.

"Hiya Sam," she replied.
