Bronte crossed the room and opened the door. Outside stood the one and only Kenric. He was on crutches, and his cape was VERY wrinkled. He looked like he was in a lot of pain. And his burns took up most of his face except around the eyes. He looked like an overgrown tomato. (sorry Kenric!)

Kenric tried to walk in the room, but he couldn't move. Oralie had sprung up and had run into Kenric's free arm to hug him. Tears were streaming down both Kenric's and Oralie's faces. Bronte had a look of shock on his face.

"Ora, I do have burns. Could you not squeeze me so hard? And I need to sit. Please." Kenric wheezed.

"Of course. I'm so sorry." Ora let go and led him into the room and to the chair she was just occupying.

"Oh crap! I can't slap you!" Oralie exclaims.

"Why would you want to slap me, Ora?" Kenric asked.

"Because you left me for 4 years and you didn't tell me that you are still alive!" Oralie pointed out.

"I... I'm sorry. I literally had just woken up the day Forkle called you guys to tell you I am alive. And I give you full permission to slap me if you want." Kenric said.

When Oralie heard she could slap him, she did it as half-heartedly as she could. She did one of those "lady slaps."

"That hurt more than I thought..." Kenric said, wincing at the pain.

Oralie and Kenric were so focused on each other that they completely forgot about Bronte, who still stood in the doorway in shock. He shook himself off as if the shock was a shark. He then said,

"Well, I see you two are happy. Oralie, would you like me to call a council meeting for the change of law?" Bronte asked.

"Yes, please. Let us schedule a time so I can spend time with Ken." Oralie answered.

"Who are you and what have you done to Bronte? You know, the guy who hated me and Ora flirting, or the guy who thought he was the only one in the room with a lick of sense?" Kenric asked suspiciously.

"Amy" was all Bronte answered before he left to see if there was a time to have a Council Meeting.

"Amy? Who is that and why is she important?" Kenric asked Oralie.

"Amy is Sophie's human sister. Bronte has taken a real liking to her and she teaches him how to be nice. I quite like the new Bronte." Oralie answered.

"Makes sense. I do like the new Bronte too." Kenric said in return. When he looked back at her, she had started crying all over again.

"Oh, Ora. Come here." said Kenric and he pulled her into a hug. "I'm right here. No more worrying, I've got you. I will never leave you again. I swear by all that is holy."

Oralie then said, "Thank you. I... I never told you this, but I love you. I have loved you for a very long time. And I know you love me because you told me. I have always regretted not telling you how I feel even though you knew."

Kenric lifts her chin up and looks into her eyes. He says to her, "I love you too. And I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Starting now."

Oralie's eyes are filled with emotion. She stands on her tippy-toes and leans in, aligning her lips with his. Kenric closes the distance between them and kisses her.

The kiss was soft and sweet. And over way too quick. Kenric pulls back and stares in her eyes. He says,

"I realize now that I can't kiss you anymore. You're a Counselor. You're not allowed to be in any kind of romantic relationship because of it. I'm sorry."

"Ken, don't be. I was going to kiss you anyway. And why do you think Bronte is gonna call a meeting? He is trying to change the rules for me and you." Oralie replies.

Just then Bronte comes walking into the room a little out of breath.

"The council wants that meeting right now in the Tribunal hall. Come on." he said.
