Stella's POV:
"I..asked.. you, where is your bracelet?" he shouted, his voice booming through the room like a thunder.
I flinched, breath got stuck in my throat. My hands trembled as I tried to speak. "I....I.... don't.. know," I stammered, my voice breaking with each word.
His eyes narrowed, and he leaned in closer, a sneer curling his lips.
"You know the meaning of 'don't know,' don't you, miss?" he said, his tone dripping with menace.
I nodded, my heart pounding in my chest.
"As you know, the meaning of 'don't know' is your head, now you have to pay the price," the boss shouted, his face twisted in anger.
Tears welled up in my eyes and streamed down my cheeks. The room felt colder, and the walls seemed to close in around me. I was ready to face whatever punishment awaited me, as there was no escape from this situation. How could I have been so careless, losing something so important? All I could do is accept, whatever is coming.
I never wanted to work for them, but my father had different plans. When I was just 10 years old, he went to extreme lengths to get me involved with the Mafia, believing it would secure a better future for the family. He pushed me into a world I didn't understand or want to be part of. The world of cruelty, the world of monsters, who are always ready to wash their hands with human blood. Despite my best efforts to resist, as a child, I had no real power to change things.
Now, years later, I find myself standing before the Mafia boss, forced to sacrifice my own life, all because my family wanted a happy life. Their never-ending dreams of a better life led me here.
I snapped out of my trance as the boss's sharp voice cut through the room, and he ordered someone to come in. In the snap of a finger, two burly gunmen strode in. The boss made a decisive hand gesture, and they seized me by both arms.
There was an evil smile on his face as he watched me with a look of cold satisfaction, taking pleasure in my fear.
I struggled weakly as they dragged me down the dimly lit hallway, each step echoing ominously against the concrete walls. The harsh grip of their hands and the cold, threatening atmosphere only heightened my sense of dread.
Maybe dying could bring some relief. This life has given me nothing but sorrows. Let’s put an end to this misery for once and all. Finally, someone wants me, someone wants to embrace me, let it be death.
I came out of my trance when the lights flickered on. The air was filled with cries and shouts, mingling with the chilling sounds of hitting and chopping.
My heart raced as I realized a man was preparing things for my brutal death. They strapped me to a chair, and I could see another man approaching with a dagger, its blade already stained with fresh blood, some drops were still dripping from it. The sight sent a shiver down my spine.
I never expected anything good from my life, only miseries. He approached me, reaching his hand up to chop my head. I closed my eyes tightly, but the attack never came. I kept my eyes shut, waiting for the dagger to embrace my neck any moment, any moment my head would be detached from my body.
As I heard a punch land with a thud, I forced my eyes open. The man holding the dagger had just thrown a powerful punch at someone else in the room. The blow struck with such force that it reverberated through the air.
The second man, held his clenched fist so tightly that his own knuckles turned a stark white, veins bulging, and the man who had been holding a dagger, was now shivering from fear as he saw the ghost, the dagger had already fallen from his hand.
When I looked at his face, it was concealed by the same mask he always wore, his cold, piercing blue eyes fixated on the man holding the dagger. The intensity of his gaze was so fierce that it felt as though he could kill the man with just a look.
After seeing his face, I remembered everything..
*Flashback*
"Someone held my hand, I was pulled forward, and rolled, then again pulled forward. My hands rested on a hard chest and my eyes met a pair of blue eyes. They stared at me with indecipherable expressions. I couldn't see his whole face, as it was a masquerade and he was wearing a mask that covered a huge portion of his face. Also, lights were dim, and we were standing in shadows.
Then suddenly, his hands slipped off my waist, and touched my hand, then, he was gone like a gush of the wind. I kept staring at his retreating figure, when again, he turned his head looking at me with those cold eyes. I tried my best but couldn't see his face as light just fell on his shining eyes, illuminating them even more."
*Flashback End*
My mouth fell open, and my eyes widened as a sudden realization hit me. A sound escaped my lips, "AK!"
And Ak turned towards me, his eyes were colder than ever, like glacial ice. The sharp, unforgiving gaze sent a chill down my spine.
Until then....
