There's a new title introduced here. Dr. Google says a village headmaster would be referred to as 'cūn zhǎng'. Hopefully, this is correct. If not? Maybe it's his name?

Dr Google also says that talisman master translates to Fulu Dashi.

He came home one evening to find his husband upside down in a handstand. While Wei Ying did practice handstands for arm strength, it wasn't often enough for it to be a usual occurrence. The sight of his husband in a handstand in their home was a welcome one: Wei Ying always stripped down to his trousers, so the view was... rather enjoyable.

"I received a letter today." Wei Ying wasn't smiling. "From a minor acquaintance."

"Mmm?"

"Do you want to read it? Or hear the summary?"

"The summary first." If necessary, he would read the letter. Sharing was to be expected between spouses, but there should also be room for private communications as well.

"So." Wei Ying smoothly brought his legs down and stood up. "Our friend, formerly of Bujing Shi, has moved elsewhere. He and his mother and her friend have purchased a tea room, fixed it up, and now offer some gentle music to accompany the tea drinkers. Apparently, it's become an attraction and larger tea houses in a nearby town have asked to have Meng Shi train a few girls to also provide music for their guests. Meng Yao has a calligraphy shop next door where he also teaches a few people how to read and write and he writes letters for the villagers to send to their relatives. They're living comfortably."

"That's good to hear." After months of silence, there has to be more to the letter. Why would Meng Yao tell Wei Ying any of this? We didn't ask to be repaid.

"Wen Qing said I should still be meditating in the Cold Pond every other day and I can go every third day if necessary, but what do you think about taking a week and visiting Meng Yao? He suggested we come visit as there was something we should see for ourselves. My talisman class is almost over, so... I can give them their final assignment and tell them I will grade it once I get back."

"Will continue to have you receive a massage while we're there." Apparently that was the desired answer as a slightly sweaty Wei Ying jumped into his arms and kissed him quite thoroughly.

He rather enjoyed having his husband jumping into his arms. It always led to some fun activities and a boneless sleep.

It took a day to arrange for their leave from Yunshen Buzhichu: classes needed to be covered or paused, tasks needed to be reassigned, and so on.

Then they were on their way to a remote village they'd never heard of before called Mo Village.

The tea house seemed to glow in the morning light. Perhaps it was the highly polished wood beams reflecting the sunlight. Or the way gauzy curtains strategically hung around the room creating small semi-private seating areas muted the light. Meng Shi poured them tea, offering her eternal gratitude. "We don't need your thanks," Wei Ying insisted.
