♤~ This is very gay. Oh and it's a royalty au. ~♤
Your life was very honorable. Born and raised in a higher family with money, which no doubt helped you be where you are today. You had trained your whole life for this job practically. Everyone told you it would be hard, being a royal guard. Especially to Princess Ningguang, the only and sole heir to her family. It is tough. Every waking moment you spent dedicating yourself to her. And you had no problem with it. You enjoyed her company. However the one thing people failed to tell you was, how much the job would hurt.
Ningguang was nice to you, and maybe that's where everything went wrong. She treated you as an equal, as a friend. She viewed you like any other human being. Or maybe more considering the details. You actually enjoyed working under her. Her company was phenomenal. Your quarrel wasn't with Ningguang, it was with her family and the social ladder.
Ningguang's parents have already decided her future. She is to be the next ruler and marry a man, one of which she has zero feelings for, to power her nation and produce heirs for the next generation. The princess herself had no say so in it. Her entire life was planned before her, and she was just supposed to go on with it like some obedient puppy. There was just one problem.
You were in love with Ningguang.
And she was in love with you.
But you were merely a guard and her a person of royalty.
It was never going to work out.
Or that was what you both thought anyway.
Ningguang hummed softly, whether she was simply humming to herself or you was unknown. No matter the details her voice was beautiful so you didn't really care. Your head rested on her thighs. The perfect pillow in your opinion. You absentmindedly traced shapes and word on her skin. You just wanted to relish in the peace a little longer. It was a rare moment where you and the princess could indulge and pretend. Pretend that nothing was the matter, that a massive gorge separated the two of you. You could happily pretend that there were no consequences for your actions, and simply be, inlove.
"You look gorgeous today darling." She noted.
Your finger traced a heart on her skin. "You say that everyday princess."
"I like to remind you that not even all the money in the world could compare to you. You are far more precious and important." Ningguang said simply.
"You flatter me." Who needs therapy when you have a Ningguang to soothe you and remind you of your value everyday?
"I'm simply being honest." She chuckled lightly.
"Well if i'm being honest, you look like an angel my love. All that grace and all that body. Your perfect."
You couldn't resist the temptation to compliment her back. Most of the days you wanted to get on your knees and worship her. Kiss every inch of her and send a tiny prayer to Clestia for her with each and every kiss. But that would be dramatic. Ningguang got worshiping comments everyday, but did any of them really matter? They only saw her on the outside, they never took the chance to dive a little deeper and see her on the inside.
And I could promise you, from personal experience, that her inside was just as good as the outside.
"Hmm, thank you dear. Could you raise yourself? I want to kiss you, I can't resist the temptation anymore."
Never have you ever gotten up so quickly. You rose to your knees, them being cushioned by the mattress of the bed you two were resting on. Ningguang smiled at your eagerness.
"That's a good girl." Ningguang held your face with the utmost gentleness.
If Ningguang's lips on yours was the last thing you felt before you died, you could die a happy person. Her kisses made you so breathless and needy. It was like your body craved her taste. The feel of her mouth against your, it wasn't a want. It was a Need. Most of the time Ninguang was very respectful when she kissed you, the only times she got a little "rough" was when the two of you were behind closed doors late at night, in the midst of other activities. With that being said, Ninguang's kisses were still dominant but more subtle.
After the kiss you positioned yourself so that you were pressed against her with your head resting on her chest. She was still holding your face. She swiped one thumb across your cheek.
"Still as beautiful as I remember, If not more." Her words were full of admiration towards you.
Sadly moments like that couldn't last. The cold and callous hands called life soon came reaching towards you and ripped you away. Or I guess you could say, a man ripped you away. Or rather ripped Ningguang away.
It hurt like nothing you ever experienced before. Watching the love of your life meet the man she was destined to marry. It just brought you back to earth, you and Ningguang couldn't have your happily ever after. This wasn't some fairytale. It simply wasn't the way your futures lay. Of course, you would always be with her, guarding her and protecting her. But never with her in an intimate way again. Oh the agony.
How you yearned to snatch Ningguang away and hold her in your arms. How your blood boiled seeing that man kneel before her, take her hand in his, and kiss the back of it. It should be you! How could fate be so cruel? Couldn't it see you were in love. You were soulmates. You needed each other so badly it hurt. Now watching this man intrude on your territory felt like a blow to the gut.
Ningguang being the angel she is, had to play along and be polite. Yet you could since her discomfort. Your heart aches to soothe her pain.
Her parents were evil. Deciding that Ningguang should meet and spend the day with the man she was assigned to marry. No matter her protests they refused to budge. The man himself wasn't awful. He was even nice, but Ningguang wasn't interested in him or any other him for that matter. Why couldn't people see that? Why must they be so dense! Why couldn't they get it through their thick skulls that she was in love with a woman! Not a man a woman. It wasn't that hard to see was it?
Yes Ningguang was pretty, stunning, gorgeous, but that was no excuse. It didn't matter what she looked like. It mattered what she wanted and what she was comfortable with. And it obviously wasn't a man for crying out loud. Some were just blind to the pain or needs of others. When it came down to it, Ningguang was never going to be comfortable with a man. It just wasn't what she wanted in her life. And maybe it was time for people to realize that.
Ningguang must have come to the same conclusion, because she turned to her fated husband with a pitying look. "I apologize, but this is not going to work." She removed her hand from his.
You held your breath, your heart pounding.
Her parents who were in the room were shocked. They ushered the boy out so that they could knock some sense into their daughter.
"Ningguang! What was that for?" Her mother was furious.
"It was entirely uncalled for! That young gentleman is nice." Her father said sternly.
Ningguang faced her parents head on. "Mother, father, I am not marrying that man. Or any man for that matter."
"But the family line-" Her mother began, but Ningguang cut her off.
"Mother, how obvious are you? I don't want a husband. I want a wife." Ningguang crossed her arms. If she was nervous or scared she didn't show it. That was one of the many things you admire about her.
Ningguang was tired of not speaking up for herself. She was tired of people telling her what to do, and treating her like a dog. She had a voice didn't she? And she was going to use it damnit.
"A wife?" Her mother was pale.
Her father pursed his lips, you could practically see the wheels in his head turning. "You want a wife? We can get you a wife."
"But the family blood line..." Her mother looked like she was about to faint.
"They can adopt."
"I-...fine."
"We just have to pick a noble female, make sure their family lineage is good." Her father was solely talking to his wife and completely ignoring his daughter.
His daughter who was getting very angry with her parents' bullshit.
"No!" She shouted.
You gasped, it was the first time you had ever heard her shout. She must be really angry. You wanted nothing more than to go comfort her but knew she needed to fend for herself.
"No? What do you mean no?" Her parents looked taken aback by her tone.
"I'm sick and tired of you two negotiating my future like I'm not here! Did you ever think I might want a say so in my life?" Ningguang took a deep breath.
"You can look at the eligible woman and pick between them-"
"No. I'm not doing that." Ningguang said coldly.
The room was so silent you could hear everyone breathing. You were terribly tense waiting for something to happen. You were scared for Ningguang.
"I'm not picking a wife of your choosing. I already have one. Of my choosing." Ningguang turned to you and reached out a hand.
To be completely honest you were terrified, but Ningguang gave you an encouraging smile. You hesitantly stepped forward and placed your hand in hers. She gave it a comforting squeeze.
"Mother, father this is my girlfriend Y/n. One day she will be my future wife." Your heart may have faltered hearing those words. "I love her more than life itself. So please think of me for once, not your duty or your kingdom, me. Your daughter. Place yourself in the mindset of what you are, parents. Not kings and queens. Parents. My parents." Ningguang looked into each of their eyes.
It may not have been what you were expecting but it was a start at least. And you were with Ningguang, your own personal angel sent down just for you. Life may or may not get rocky from here, but as long as you had her with you, it was bearable. Because after all, you were still Ningguang's guard. She always came before you. Happiness, safety, comfortability, anything and everything. It was always her, and it always would be her. Forever. And no one, not even her parents, could stop the two of you.
♤~ Wow almost 2000 words. I love this idea so much that I might make a short fanfiction based off it. Let me know if you would be interested. ~♤
