This interlude is being posted to inform you that judging will begin on November 5th, 2024.
The categories to be judged first are: Experimental, Rock, and Indie. After that, I will likely do Pop, though I will keep you updated as more categories close and more participants join.
There are 195 total slots, and now there are less than 50 remaining, so if anyone you know would like to sign up or you have more books to enter (remember you can enter up to four as long as they are different books to different categories), please enter ASAP as I anticipate it will fully close soon.
This means I will be actively checking every participant for rule breakages (AKA: unfollowing), so please recheck that you are following me to ensure you get your review and prizes.
I have no ETA on when judging will be completed, but I will keep you updated throughout the contest!
Also, you will not have to wait for reviews after results are announced. I always post reviews for everyone on the same day in the same chapter, so when the results/winners are announced, everyone's reviews will be in that chapter, too. So if you win or do not win, you won't have to wait to find out why.
I find that system works so much better for everyone, that way no one has to ask for their reviews or wait anxiously to find out why or find out my thoughts on things.
Thanks everyone!
Note about judging: Just something I want to clarify since I had a few questions about it: I'm not a judge who will read 5 chapters of a book and call it a day. I will read several hours worth of your book. If it's poetry, short stories, experimental, or anything under around 4 hours, the entire book will get read. If it's over 4 hours by a significant amount, I will likely read about 4 hours or until I find a good place to stop (like a major plot point gets wrapped up).
This is so I can fairly evaluate the books. Some stories need an hour or two until the writer feels really comfortable and the plot starts coming together, and I understand that. At the same time, some books entered are extremely long at over 10 hours, and I hope everyone understands that solo judging almost 200 books makes it nearly impossible to read 10+ hour-long books to their completion. That would make it so this contest takes like two years, and as a mini awards, it's meant to be judged at least somewhat quickly.
I will read as much as I realistically can, and some long books I may read in their entirety anyway, depending on the circumstances. But all of this is to say that don't worry, you're not going to be judged on just your first few chapters. So I hope that clears some things up about my judging process.
I just ask you to please remember I am judging this by myself, and on top of that I am an Ambassador, full-time employee, and full-time student, so I ask for your patience as I judge your wonderful works. I'm excited to get started!
Also, I'm not judging this based on Ambassador judging standards, even though I am judge-trained. I want to make that clear that my criteria is completely different from Ambassador judging criteria.
IMPORTANT: I understand Wattpad contests, like the Amby's, are ongoing, and my contest may take a while. If you end up winning in one of the ongoing or upcoming contests that go on at the same time as my awards, that is fine. You will not be disqualified because that's really unfair as neither you nor me could have known that.
The condition #2 in the rules only applies to past Wattpad contests, not the ongoing and upcoming ones. So please do not fear if you made it to the third round of the Amby's or shortlisted for the Watty's (congratulations to everyone who did); you are fine in this contest and you don't have to worry about being disqualified or anything.
Thanks!
