Chapter 3: Family Ties

Shehnaaz’s family had always been her rock. Her father, Raj Gill, was a renowned director in Bollywood, while her mother, Naina Gill, was a respected professor at IIT Bombay. Her elder brother, Kapil Gill, was a famous comedian who brought laughter to millions across India. Despite their busy lives, the Gills always made time for each other. Family dinners were filled with laughter, stories, and unconditional love.

On a sunny Sunday afternoon, the Gill family gathered at their luxurious home in Mumbai. Raj was excitedly discussing his latest film project, while Naina shared an amusing incident from her university. Kapil, ever the entertainer, cracked jokes that had everyone in stitches. Amidst the joy, Shehnaaz felt a pang of worry for Sidharth. She couldn’t shake off the concern she had for him, especially given his recent behavior.

Meanwhile, Sidharth’s family was grappling with a storm of their own. Ashok Shukla, a multimillionaire businessman, was trying to manage his empire while dealing with his son’s deteriorating mental state. His wife, Rita, who ran a successful NGO, was equally distressed. Their elder son, Jay Shukla, a Bollywood superstar, had stepped in to help his father with the business. Jay’s wife, Mahi, a chartered accountant, treated Sidharth like her own brother and was deeply worried about him. Their daughter, Tara, adored her uncle Sid, who sid called  his stress buster.

Sidharth was now convinced that Shehnaaz was his lost love, Trisha. This delusion led him to do reckless things to confirm his belief. He relentlessly questioned his family, causing them great distress. Dr. Sharma, Sidharth’s maternal uncle and his treating physician, delivered grim news to the Shukla family. He explained that Sidharth’s condition was worsening and that another surgery would be life-threatening. He suggested that Sidharth might need to be sent to an asylum due to his dangerous behavior.

The thought of sending Sidharth away was like a cyclone hitting the Shukla family. They were already struggling to handle their business and media attention. Sidharth, who had been a successful businessman in his own right and had helped his father with the family business, was now a shadow of his former self.

As the Gill family enjoyed their time together, Shehnaaz couldn’t help but think about the Shuklas. She knew she had to do something to help Sidharth, even if it meant facing the harsh realities of his condition. She had to be strong, not just for herself, but for Sidharth and his family.

Back at the Shukla residence, Jay and Mahi tried to come up with a plan to help Sidharth. They knew they couldn’t give up on him. Rita and Ashok, though heartbroken, resolved to do whatever it took to bring their son back from the brink.

As the day turned to night, both families found themselves at a crossroads. The Gills, with their love and support, and the Shuklas, with their determination and resilience, were bound by the common thread of hope. Shehnaaz and Sidharth’s paths were intertwined, and the coming days would test their strength and resolve like never before.
