"I didn't mean to hide it from you. I know things are complicated right now, but right now im more worried about you."
As Gwen walked out of the room, she rolled her eyes and sighed. The masked figure's anger was palpable, but Gwen had bigger things to worry about than the personal vendettas of someone she barely knew.
She stepped into the dimly lit hallway, her footsteps echoing softly. The tension from the meeting still crackled in the air, and she could feel the weight of the masked man's words lingering behind her.
Gwen pulled out her phone and dialed a number, leaning against the wall as she waited for the call to connect.
"Hey, it's Gwen. We need to meet. There's been a complication," she said into the phone, her tone serious.
A few moments later, a gruff voice responded. "Where and when?"
"Let's say... the usual spot. Midnight. I'll explain everything there," Gwen said, ending the call.
She moved swiftly through the maze of corridors, her leather jacket catching the low light. Gwen's mind raced as she thought about Alan and the truth that was now dangerously close to being exposed. If Jian Hao and Nichole got involved, it could unravel everything they had carefully planned.
Arriving at the rendezvous point, a small, abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town, Gwen found her contact already waiting-a tall, shadowy figure leaning against a flickering streetlamp.
"Gwen," the figure greeted in a low voice. "What's this all about?"
She quickly filled them in on the recent meeting, the masked man's threats, and the potential danger of Alan twisting the truth.
"We have to act fast," Gwen concluded. "Nichole already knows that their Uncle Alan is their father, they need to know the entire story as soon as possible now that we have everything under control."
Her contact nodded, a determined look in their eyes. "I'll make sure Alans kept busy. But you should know, if Alan's involved, things could get messy."
Gwen nodded in agreement. "I know. But it's not just about uncle Alan anymore. It's about protecting what we've built. We can't let anyone jeopardize our plans."
As she turned to leave, her phone buzzed again. It was a text from an unknown number: "I know where you are. And I'm coming for you."
Gwen's heart skipped a beat. The stakes were higher than ever. She had to stay ahead of her enemies, but in the game she was playing, trust was a luxury where no one couldn't afford.
"Stay sharp," she said to her contact before disappearing into the night, ready for whatever came next.
