The sun was beginning to set, casting a golden hue over Firehouse 51. The crew had just wrapped up their final tasks, and a sense of camaraderie filled the air as everyone prepared to unwind. Ivy Casey, her brother Matt, her lieutenant Kelly Severide, and her longtime friend Andy Darden were gathered in the common area, sharing stories and laughter.

Ivy felt a mix of exhaustion and exhilaration. Her first shift had been challenging but rewarding, and she was grateful to have familiar faces around her. Matt looked over at her with a proud smile. "You did great today, Ivy. I'm really glad you're here."

"Thanks, Matt," Ivy replied, beaming. "It feels good to finally be part of the team."

Kelly Severide, leaning casually against the counter, nodded in agreement. "You handled yourself well out there. It's not easy being the new kid, but you proved you can keep up."

"Thanks, Lieutenant," Ivy said, her cheeks flushing slightly under his intense gaze.

Andy, ever the joker, leaned in and grinned. "Ivy was always the toughest one among us. Remember that time she dared me to climb the old water tower?"

Matt chuckled, shaking his head. "Yeah, and you got stuck halfway up. Ivy had to climb up after you and talk you down."

Ivy laughed, nudging Andy playfully. "You were such a chicken."

"Hey, it was high up!" Andy protested, raising his hands in mock defense. "But seriously, it's great having you here, Ivy. It's like old times."

As the conversation continued, the mood remained light and jovial. Ivy felt a sense of belonging she hadn't experienced in a long time. This was her family, and she was ready to prove herself every day.

Before long, the crew began to disperse, eager to get some rest before their next shift. Ivy stood up, stretching her arms. "Alright, guys. I'm heading out. It's been a long day."

Kelly mumbled something under his breath, just loud enough for Ivy to catch. "Never knew any girl firefighters who could keep up like that."

Andy burst out laughing, giving Kelly a playful shove. "Who wants to bet that Severide will be in her pants within a few weeks?"

Matt laughed, shaking his head at the banter. Ivy, however, rolled her eyes and gave her brother a light punch on the arm. "Fuck off, Matt."

"Language, Ivy," Matt said, still chuckling.

Ivy turned to Andy with a mischievous glint in her eye. "You wanna wrestle, Darden? I'll show you who's tough."

"Bring it on," Andy replied, dropping into a mock fighting stance.

The two began to play wrestle, laughing and jostling each other. It was like they were kids again, their bond as strong as ever. Matt watched with amusement, knowing better than to get in the middle of their antics.

After a few minutes, they broke apart, both slightly out of breath but grinning from ear to ear. "Alright, I concede," Andy said, holding up his hands in surrender. "You're still the toughest."

"Damn right I am," Ivy replied with a triumphant smirk.

"Goodnight, Ivy," Kelly said, giving her a nod. "Get some rest. We'll see you tomorrow."

"Night, Lieutenant," Ivy replied, her eyes lingering on him for a moment longer than necessary. "Goodnight, guys. I'll see you tomorrow."

As Ivy left the firehouse and walked towards her apartment, her thoughts began to drift. Kelly Severide. There was something about him that she couldn't quite shake. He was handsome, sure, but it was more than that. There was a confidence and intensity in his eyes that drew her in, made her heart beat a little faster.

She shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts. It was unprofessional to think about her lieutenant that way. But despite her best efforts, she couldn't help but imagine what it would be like to get to know him better, to peel back the layers and see the man behind the uniform.

As she reached her apartment, Ivy let out a sigh and unlocked the door. The place was small but cozy, a far cry from the bustling firehouse. She dropped her bag on the floor and flopped onto the couch, letting out a tired groan. Her body ached from the day's exertions, but her mind was still buzzing.

She replayed the day's events in her head, from the adrenaline rush of the calls to the easy camaraderie with her new team. And then there was Kelly. She couldn't deny the attraction she felt, but she knew it was a slippery slope. Mixing personal and professional life could lead to trouble.

Ivy sat up and rubbed her temples, trying to push the thoughts away. She needed to focus on her job, on proving herself as a firefighter. But no matter how hard she tried, her mind kept drifting back to Kelly's piercing blue eyes and the way his voice made her heart skip a beat.

"Get a grip, Ivy," she muttered to herself. "He's your lieutenant, not some guy you can flirt with."

But even as she said it, she knew it wouldn't be that simple. The spark was there, undeniable and electric. All she could do was take it one day at a time and see where things led. For now, she needed to get some sleep and be ready for whatever tomorrow would bring.

As she got ready for bed, Ivy couldn't help but smile. Despite the challenges ahead, she was excited for the future. She had her brother, her old friend, and a team she was eager to be a part of. And maybe, just maybe, there was something more waiting for her with Kelly Severide.

With that thought, Ivy drifted off to sleep, ready to face whatever came next with determination and a touch of curiosity about the possibilities that lay ahead.
