Ivy Casey and Kelly Severide had been dancing around their feelings for weeks, stealing moments together whenever they could. Their connection had deepened since Ivy's accident, and the time they spent together outside of work had only made their bond stronger. But despite their growing closeness, they hadn't yet told anyone about their relationship.
The secrecy added a thrilling edge to their romance, but it also made things complicated. They knew they had to be careful, especially at the firehouse. The last thing they wanted was for their colleagues to find out before they were ready to go public.
Today, however, they were finding it hard to resist each other. It was a slow day at Firehouse 51, and Kelly had asked Ivy to join him in his office under the pretense of reviewing some paperwork. But as soon as the door closed behind them, the tension that had been simmering all day boiled over.
Kelly leaned against his desk, his eyes locking onto Ivy's. "I can't stop thinking about you," he murmured, his voice low and rough.
Ivy smiled, stepping closer. "Good, because I can't stop thinking about you either."
Before either of them could say another word, Kelly reached out, pulling her into his arms. Their lips met in a heated kiss, all the longing and desire they had been holding back coming to the surface. Ivy wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing herself against him as the kiss deepened.
They lost themselves in each other, the rest of the world falling away. Kelly's hands roamed over Ivy's back, his touch igniting a fire in her that she hadn't felt in a long time. She moaned softly against his lips, her fingers tangling in his hair.
"Kelly," she whispered breathlessly between kisses, "we shouldn't be doing this here..."
But Kelly silenced her with another kiss, his lips moving from her mouth to the sensitive skin of her neck. "I know," he murmured against her skin, "but I can't help it. I want you, Ivy."
She shivered at his words, her resolve crumbling. "I want you too," she admitted, pulling him closer.
Their lips met again, more urgently this time, as if they were trying to make up for all the time they had to hold back. They were so wrapped up in each other that they didn't hear the door to Kelly's office swing open.
"What the hell is going on here?"
Matt Casey's voice cut through the haze of desire like a bucket of cold water. Ivy and Kelly sprang apart, both of them looking like kids caught with their hands in the cookie jar.
Standing in the doorway, Matt stared at them with wide eyes, shock and disbelief written all over his face. Beside him, Leslie Shay was trying—and failing—to hide a grin.
"Oh my God," Shay said, biting her lip to keep from laughing. "I knew something was up with you two."
Ivy's face flushed with embarrassment, and she quickly straightened her clothes. "Matt...Shay...this isn't what it looks like," she stammered, even though it was exactly what it looked like.
Matt crossed his arms over his chest, his eyes narrowing as he looked between the two of them. "Really? Because it looks like you two were just making out in the middle of the firehouse."
Kelly cleared his throat, stepping forward. "Matt, listen, we didn't mean for you to find out like this. We were going to tell you, but—"
"But what?" Matt interrupted, his voice sharp. "You were waiting for the right time? You're my little sister, Ivy, and Kelly, you're my best friend. How long has this been going on?"
Ivy glanced at Kelly, silently pleading with him for help. Kelly sighed, running a hand through his hair. "It's been a few weeks," he admitted. "We wanted to make sure it was something serious before we said anything."
Matt looked like he didn't know whether to be angry or amused. "And is it? Serious?"
Ivy stepped forward, her eyes meeting her brother's. "Yes, Matt. It is," she said softly. "I care about Kelly. A lot."
Matt let out a long breath, his shoulders relaxing slightly. "I just wish you'd told me sooner," he said, his voice softer now. "You know I worry about you, Ivy."
Shay finally broke her silence, stepping into the office with a smirk on her face. "Oh, come on, Matt. You should have seen this coming. The way these two have been looking at each other lately, it was only a matter of time."
Matt shot her a look, but there was a hint of a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "Maybe, but I'm still your brother, Ivy. I just want to make sure you're happy and safe."
"I am happy," Ivy assured him, stepping closer to Kelly and slipping her hand into his. "And I'm safe with Kelly. You know that."
Matt studied them for a long moment, then finally nodded. "Alright," he said, his voice grudging. "But no more making out in the office, got it? This is still a workplace."
Kelly grinned, squeezing Ivy's hand. "Got it, boss."
Shay laughed, shaking her head. "This is going to be fun to watch."
"Shay," Matt warned, but there was a note of amusement in his voice.
Ivy smiled, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. It wasn't the way she had planned for Matt to find out, but at least it was out in the open now. She looked up at Kelly, who gave her a reassuring smile.
As they all left the office, Matt paused at the door, turning back to look at Kelly and Ivy. "Just...be careful, okay?" he said, his tone serious. "Both of you."
"We will," Kelly promised, his hand still holding Ivy's.
Matt nodded, then turned and walked out, Shay following close behind with a mischievous grin.
Once they were alone again, Kelly let out a relieved laugh. "Well, that could have gone worse."
Ivy smiled up at him, her heart swelling with affection. "Yeah, it could have. But I'm glad it didn't."
Kelly leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. "Me too."
As they walked out of the office together, hand in hand, Ivy felt a sense of peace. They had been caught, but they hadn't been torn apart. If anything, it made her feel even closer to Kelly, knowing that they could face anything together.
And as they returned to the rest of the team, she knew that whatever challenges lay ahead, they would face them together.
