I shouldn't be here. But she has the whole house open for literally anyone to walk in. That doesn't make it right. It makes it convenient as fuck though. Is this how you're gonna prove yourself to the town? Fuck off. I'm in charge, you're just a voice. And the feeling, the need to see how my porcelain princess looks at her most vulnerable is too much to handle. I just need a peek. Then I'll go home and sleep so I can continue being responsible tomorrow.

I'm standing in the passageway that lines the wall of Alanna's room as I debate with myself about what I should do. I knew logically what I should do, leave. But the yearning to see if this one is her, my girl. I know I'll know her when I see her without her mask. All day long humans wear masks. We even wear masks with ourselves. We only truly take them off when we sleep. I wanted to see who she was without the mask. I just knew that she was who I was looking for, and as soon as she fell asleep, I'd know.

I just needed a glimpse. That's what I kept saying to myself anyways. Just a glimpse. I listen as she continues asking the ouija board questions. She'd been at it all night. It hadn't answered as far as I could tell. I think it did before I got here, because she was adamant about trying over and over. Finally I hear a muffled groan of frustration and something hits the wall before falling to the floor with a clatter.

I hear her get up and head to the bedroom door. Then I hear the sounds of windows and doors being systematically shut throughout the house. I wait patiently in my hiding spot, confident, given the thick spider webs, that no one had been in here since I cleaned them as a kid for a few bucks. Belle probably only had me clean them to give me a way to earn the money. She had been a sweet lady. I smile to myself and wait for Alanna to get back to the room.

She returns a few minutes later and shuts her door, but leaves her window open. I understand, the mothball smell was strong. I'm honestly surprised she closed all the windows. I'd have left the top level open through the night. It's not like the weather wasn't up for it. We had a perfect evening to go with the perfect day. But Alanna was from the city, and old habits die hard. I'm sure it takes a lot for city folk to just leave their doors unlocked.

I listened as she rummaged through her boxes, probably for pajamas, and then the glow from around the passageway entrance goes out as she turns off the bedroom light. I wait twenty more minutes, too anxious to do anything but watch the time tick by and think about what we'll do once we're together. I'd probably move in here with her. She'd need time, but I could probably get her to move faster than normal. She was city after all, they moved quick.

The town will think it's fast, but they won't be able to prove it's for easy access to her sleeping body, so it won't make me look worse. We will just be that in love, and we'll make sure everyone knows it. I just have to make sure I get under her skin before she learns what I did. Of course this was all dependent on what I found on the other side of the wall.

Finally, I stand and head for the doorway. Quietly, I ease open the secret passage's door and slowly ease my head out so I can see her prone form lying on the bed a few feet away.

The minute my eyes find her I know. It's her. She's mine. I had found her. I knew I would know the minute I saw her. And Alanna's face practically glowed with light in the darkness. I could see her every feature and they called to me. To touch. To caress. To love. Now, I just needed to leave. But my feet are stuck fast. My eyes captured by her perfect porcelain face. And when I try to move again I find myself inching inside the room further.

Silently I creep up to her sleeping form and greedily drink in her beautiful prone body. She was sin incarnate. No one and nothing had ever been as sexy as the woman currently sleeping in front of me. I lick my lips and find my hand reaching for her face. I gently caress her cheek with the back of my fingers. She was so soft. So perfect. At an agonizingly slow pace I lean down and place a kiss on her cheek. I feel her stir and I quickly stand back up and back towards my exit.
