I was so excited to make a friend that was into the supernatural. Apparently, Flick didn't know Patty's interest, because he looks shocked. Patty breaks our excited hug, and we beam at each other. "Do you want to do a seance?!" She bursts out. "I thought you'd never ask!" I all but shout back and we squeal at each other. Flick looks bemused and I give him a look in return. He raises his eyebrows and nods in return as if to say, 'you changed your tune quickly'. I realize I came in here because Patty had been yelling at him, but she apologized...and she liked ghosts.

Some things couldn't be overlooked. Like ghost love. I was so excited to do the seance. I wish it was night already! But I needed to be responsible before I could play. Had to keep the books balanced. Patty and I chat about ghosts for about twenty minutes. Specifically Wolfe and the signs I've seen and felt. She was particularly interested in the fact that the ghost has a libido. Flick keeps boxing old games and ends up finishing up the packing while we talk.

I feel bad, but we were just so excited to share interests that responsibility got away from us. We all move to the music room and I start going through sheet music again. Flick sits on the piano bench and lifts the lid to the keys. He cracks his knuckles and starts to play a beautiful and haunting melody. I place the sheet music down, stop the record, and sit next to him, watching his fingers dance deftly across the keys. He was amazing. I get lost in the song and close my eyes and sway to the rhythm of the tune. Patty must know the song, because she starts humming along with Flick as he plays. She has a pretty voice. Suddenly, her hums turn into words.

Hm hm he can't rely

To save his daughter's hand

To keep her safe forever

He scoured through the land

And found where he had lured her

Her father waited quietly

For the man to arrive

He tiptoed forward lightly

To end the bad man's life

My love for her is sound

My love for her is good

Something, something, around

Hm hm hm da da da

"Patty, you have a nice voice." Flick says, and Patty smiles in thanks. "What song is that?" I ask and Patty and Flick look at each other and then both seem to try to remember where they learned it. "I dunno, it's just a town song. We all know it, or at least some of it." Patty says with a shrug and Flick nods. "Huh. It was kind of weird. But super pretty." I say and Flick smiles. "Thanks Alanna." He says and starts playing a jazzy number. I get up and start sorting. Patty insists on helping, and I can't say I don't need it. I don't know that much about music. She and Flick really come in handy in this room. Apparently everyone in their town had to learn an instrument in high school. This town was very weird.

We go through the music room and step into the library, but there's nothing I would change about this room. It's perfect as is. The walls are covered with shelves and books. It extends up through the house with its own winding staircase to the other floors. I loved the library. Patty looks at the room and whistles in amazement. I can't help but grin in response. It really was impressive.

"Well, I think that's the bottom and the middle floors done. Just the third floor and the attic to go. Ready to sort through more clothes and sheets?" I ask Flick and he smiles ruefully. I laugh and we all head up the stairs in the entrance hall and to the third floor. We spend the rest of the day sorting through trunks and wardrobes filled with old clothes from multiple decades. It's like Grandma Carver kept absolutely everything she ever owned.
