I slipped out the bed, accidentally waking Microphone up. She whined about the light and pulled a blanket over her, drowning in darkness. I guess I can't talk to her this morning.
Say, what was I even going to tell her? I stretched and left the room, thinking back to last night's events. I passed Soap, who looked at me and winced before rushing off in a different direction. I found it slightly weird, but not as weird as Test Tube and Salt, previously known enemies, holding each other like they couldn't even bear the thought of letting go. The anger started to set in. For whatever reason, I didn't really feel it last night. Just knowing Salt was safe was enough for me to be rational. I was pretty exhausted from all the searching Fan and I did last night, so I don't think the whole thing really processed correctly. Looking back on it now, it was almost disgusting how the two not only had a secret relationship, but they acted as if they were sworn rivals in public.
Paper and OJ passed, giving me weary glances before taking out their phones and blabbering about the news or something. Confusion replaced my anger as this happened. Just what exactly am I getting these looks for? Do I have something on my face? Am I walking strange? I caught sight of Balloon walking down the hall. He looked over to me, pity in his eyes. Balloon? Balloon pities me?! Before I can chase him down the hall to beat him for even looking at me in a way like that, I got dragged into the utility closet by someone I don't even see. I tried to scream, but I felt a hand slam against my mouth before I even had the opportunity. Immediately, I settled submissively. In all scenarios where I get kidnapped, I'm only trying once before I accept the sweet release of death. I just hope it's fast.
"Hey, so, don't be mad at me," Fan's irritating voice whispered in the darkness. I'm glad he can't see me roll my eyes. My fantasy of finally dying is ruined. This dork couldn't kill a butterfly if he had to.
"Is everyone looking at you weird, too?" I asked.
"Uhmm, yeah, I might have posted that thing that happened last night on my blog, and someone might have spread it around, and so now-"
"WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU POST IT?!"
"I was just mad, I don't know! Weren't you mad? We do stupid things in the heat of the moment, it's not rocket science! It was barely even my fault! I didn't know anyone here actually read my blog!"
His words about being in the heat of the moment brought me back to my dangerously frisky attitude when it came to Mic last night. I shivered just thinking about it. She probably doesn't even like women, so why would I go and do all of that, let alone think it? She was most likely taken aback by my sudden forwardness. Did I really act on that because of what Salt said? Do I only want to be what Salt thinks I am?
"Well, nobody knows Test Tube and Salt are together, right? You just said you and I saw something wack?" I asked nervously. The fan pulled out his phone, handing me a wall of text to read. I squint my eyes to adjust to the brightness of his screen, which clashed harshly against the incredible absence of light.
"GELP MEE I JUST SAW TEST TUBE AND SALT TOGETHER </3 THEY'RE KEEPING IT ON THE DOWN LOW OH GOLLY!"
"Boy you text like you don't even like girls."
"Well, you shouldn't be enforcing stereotypes," he mumbled. I sighed and handed his phone over, slamming the door to the utility closet open. Fan silently watched me as I left. He stood miserably in the closet as I moped to my hotel room to lock myself inside. Salt sat on her blankets, staring infinitely into her phone. She didn't seem to notice me as I threw myself on my bed. I slipped as I climbed over, startled by the table salt's voice.
"Pepper, I hope you didn't get the wrong impression of my note on the wall."
My heart started beating rapidly. She met my eyes. The salt shaker was saddled on top of her mattress, and I was laying on the floor.
