The Turbidity of Your Pleasure
"In the turbidity of your pleasure, I float;
Thinking of the waters covering my body.
As if I were you."Carlos Schwabe
3. La Turbidité De Ton Plaisir
I was already on my second glass of wine and I couldn't stop looking at my watch for a minute.
That was a little strange, my relationship with alcohol was usually delicate. I've never dared to drink often, let's just say that hot drinks weren't exactly my taste, but I did enjoy red wine from time to time. However, at that moment, I was kind of breaking my own pattern as the drink became the only remedy to calm my anxiety caused by a French artist, peculiar, attractive and with extremely dark eyes.
Just to recap.
Haerin went to meet some excited visitors who were more than willing to offer high prices for their works, and I was left alone observing her paintings. I didn't mind, because we would both be together again at the end of the exhibition and alone. The problem was precisely that, knowing that she and I would be together at the end of the exhibition and... Alone.
And that was what was stopping me from paying attention to what I really should have. haerin was a famous artist, somewhat controversial, peculiar and extremely talented. A column about her in the newspaper where I was working would yield a high percentage of the target audience, especially when we were planning to focus on the virtual market. I should have been focused on analyzing her work and thinking about the article that I would publish later on the front page.
Instead, I walked back and forth with a nearly empty glass of wine in my hand, observing her discreetly. Okay, not so discreetly, her figure caught the attention of everyone present in that gallery and Haerin seemed to be so friendly, charismatic and welcoming that I wouldn't be surprised if everyone there ended up surrendering to her charm, even the ones in relationships.
It was difficult, really difficult. Her entire gallery was at my disposal so that I could check and contemplate each work, there were many things worthy of an entire article there and to be honest, Haerin made it clear in her work why she was worthy of being so adored and admired by everyone. There was talent in everything there, but what was catching my attention, unfortunately, was the artist.
Unfortunately, because well, I came here to do my job as a journalist and not to sigh, imagine indecent things and notice the peculiar habit of a Korean-French woman of constantly touching her lips with her fingertips. Yes, after observing for some time, I was able to conclude that Haerin had that habit of touching her lips randomly, I think she at least realized it, but I noticed it and it was attractive in a strange way.
The moment I was looking at her, not at her work right in front of me, but at her, I didn't notice when Haerin started looking at me too. Her dark, persuasive eyes stared at me in such a cutting, intense way that I felt naked from head to toe and completely incapable of looking at anything other than her. Haerin smiled at the corner of her mouth, her gaze following the line of her smile as if she were silently telling me what we were going to do that night.
