When I got home it had started to rain. I ran inside as quick as I could trying to not step in the mud. My house wasn't much. It was two story and  had an acre of land. We had lived in Tennessee before I had known I was a half-blood. When I had gotten attacked by my first monster, my dad had packed up our stuff and moved to the outskirts of New York so I could still be close to camp and still have some land to plant my garden.

I trudged up to my room changed into my green footie pajamas and lay-ed down on my bed waiting to fall asleep. My ears were just starting to drown out the sound of the rain and my eyes were just starting to shut, when I heard a low pitched giggle. My eyes snapped open and I grabbed my dagger and sat up scanning my room. It stopped. "He he," and then someone whispering. I got out of my bed and started walking around. I was about to open the closet door when I heard a guys voice say,

" Yo Katie over here." I turned around to see an Iris message from Travis.

 "Nice clothes." he said smirking.

" What do you want Travis? " I could feel my face heating up. First he had prank ed me in-front of the whole school and now he was seeing me in my pajamas, my day was just getting better and better.

I grabbed the nearest pillow towards me and was about to swipe away the iris message when he frantically yelled out, "NO, Please I used my last drachma on this call and its urgent."

"What could  possibly make you think I would want to talk to you, or even help you with anything?". I crossed my arms while waiting for him to give me his lousy excuse.

" Who said I needed your help?" He said with a goofy smile. I rolled my eyes and for the second time reached out to swipe way the call when he yelled out an apology.

"Look what me and Connor did today was rude and uncalled for and I'm sorry. We thought it was going to be funny but it came out more mean than intended". Was I hearing myself correctly? Out of all people, he was the last to ever apologize for the pranks he had pulled.

I stood there for a moment debating, do I accept? Was this apart of another plan he had or was he genuinely being sincere? With Travis I never knew. I mean after all he had never apologized for pulling a prank. After careful consideration, I decided why the hell not. It's not like it could get any worse from here.

"UGH, Ok fine I accept. Only because your apology seemed sincere and I don't feel like holding another grudge against you."

"YES!".  He fist bumped the air and I looked at the background behind him. He had a white cinderblock wall behind him with two metal walls on either side of him. I narrowed my eyes to try and get a better look at the space he was in but overheard a flush in the background.

" Travis, are you in a bathroom stall?" I asked. This was low even for him.

His smile disappeared from his face and his eyebrows raised a little as he slowly said " What gave it away?"

" I don't know, maybe the fact that I hear the sound of a flushing toilet " I said. He rolled his eyes and a thought occurred to me.

"Travis, how did you Iris message me? ".

"With a drachma, duh I already said."

"Yeah I know but you need water for that... Did you use toilet water?!?"

"No!.. OK fine, but if you tell Connor I will kill you!" he yelled as his cheeks rose to a light red color.

" Yeah good luck with that " I retorted.

"I have to go I'm about to be late for class " he said.

"Since when did you care about being late to class?".

"Since you found out that I used toilet water for this Iris message " he glared.

"Whatever, Bye. " I swept my hand through the message, finally cutting the connection. I went back to my bed hoping to go back to sleep, but my eyes stayed open the whole time. The small conversation I had with him had made me realize I was no longer tired, but now hungry. I got up from my bed and walked down to the kitchen  to make myself a bowl of cereal. I was halfway through finishing my food when my dad walked into the kitchen with a huge grin on his face.

"Hey so what has you smiling like a fool?". My dad walked around to me and calmly said, "We are going to have a little talk, and I'm going to need you to sit down."

I gave him a perplexed look and thought to myself, Does he not see me sitting down already?

Seeing the confused look on my face he giddily said, "Put your food down and take a quick seat on the couch this wont take long." Before I could even respond, he had taken the bowl out of my hand and grabbed my now free hand leading me to the couch. What had gotten in to him?

"Ok so I know I should've told you first but I wanted it to be a surprise and I figured you'd be ok with it because you get along with Laura and-" I cut him off before he could continue because the pieces started to click. He's getting married.

I yelled out in excitement,"YOU  PROPOSED?!". Tears welled up in my eyes as I threw my arms around him and bear hugged him. My dad was now going to be married to his girlfriend of four years. My dad had been dating Laura, she was a florist who had moved here a couple of years ago and opened up a cute flower shop downtown. She was sweet, but her daughter was what I considered, "Satans Daughter." I know it sounds extreme, but she was a spoiled brat who threw a fit when things didn't go her way, and she always felt the need to insult me. For what reason? Good question, I'm still trying to figure that out.

I let go of his embrace and sat back down on the couch as he started to tell me the details of how he proposed.

"....and you're all caught up. Also, we decided it would be best if her and Terra moved in now. We need some time to get adjusted to living with each other, and so do you and Terra." The thought of having a motherly figure around the house was comforting, too bad her daughter had to come along too. My day was just getting better and better.

" Where is Terra going to be staying, because I need my personal space ". Truthfully I didn't mind having a roommate, seeing as in camp and I had more than five. However, now that Terra was going to be living with us, I needed all the personal space I could get.

"Don't worry we have it all set up already, her room is now going to be the guest room across from your room." Great now my door was going to have to stay shut all the time to avoid seeing her. Overall I was happy for my dad. He spent most of his life taking care of me and putting myself first. After all he's done for me, I think I could deal with a bratty 17 year old for a couple of years.

Before I could express my how happy I was for him, he covered my hands with his and said, "I guess it's not just gonna be us anymore, huh kiddo?". I

I gave him a small nod and said, "It's Ok, I think it's about we put use to the guest room, and besides, it be nice to have a step sister around the house." Lies. Although I wasn't happy about the new housing arrangements, I was going to make my dad stress more now that he has a wedding to help pay for.

"Well", he clapped his hands together and continued on "I'm going up stairs to go freshen up because tonight, is the last night that you and me are going to eat dinner alone. They move in tomorrow, so what do you say? Last night having takeout pizza?". I felt a pang of sadness in my heart as I thought of how this was probably the last time for a while I was going to spend quality time with my dad.

"Ill call Papa Joes and ask for the regular." He winked at and walked up the stairs to shower while I made the call.

I laid down on the couch and stared at my ceiling. Little did I know my life was about to get a whole lot crazier.
