Terra stood there in the middle of the campfire while all eyes were on her. Seeing the confusion on Terras face, I knew it could only mean one thing, she had to be adopted, and this news was not about to be easy to break.

She looked around in confusion and her voice shook as she asked, "What's going on? What is this thing? I don't understand get it off me." She tried swatting it off like it was some sort of bug, but to no avail it stood there glowing, Aphrodite had claimed her newest daughter. The mark faded and the group of Aphrodite kids came rushing to her, excited that they had a new sibling to join them. I had never seen Terra so lost in what was happening, the Aphrodite kids didn't know she had two parents, so they didn't know what she was about to be going through. I quickly intervened, handing off my Gympie to Miranda and stepping in as her siblings started gushing around her, excitedly telling her all the cool things about their cabin and why they were the best. I saw the look of fear on her face and grabbed her arm, pulling her out from the mob of beauties.

"Hey guys this is great and all but me and her are going to need to have a talk, I promise she'll be with you guys soon." Before they could interject, I hurriedly pulled her away walking towards the garden behind my cabin.

"Katie what's going on?". Her voice trembled and I figured she might have started piecing everything together. Now it all made sense why she passed through the camp borders, I thought it was just a fluke, but I should've been smarter. I was so caught up in her ruining the only life I enjoyed that I didn't even stop to think how her entering as a mortal made any sense. Sure, Rachel was a mortal, but she wasn't really a typical mortal, do oracles even count as mortals at that point? Anyways that was beside the point. I pulled her into the garden, leading her to a bench. We sat in silence for a couple of minutes, how do I explain to someone, Hey I think your mom has been lying to you your whole life and you're actually adopted, Surprise! Not really an easy conversation to have with someone you consider your mortal enemy.

Thankfully she broke the silence first. "My mom isn't really my mom, isn't she?".

"Uh no I guess not." Seeing tears well up in her eyes I continued, "You know she must have hidden It for a reason, and she still is your mom. She raised you, not Aphrodite. I understand you're probably really confused right now; believe I am too. But think of this as something kind of cool, you now have a bunch of step siblings who are actually cool and not lame like me." Did I think I was lame? Not really but I don't think this was the time to be uplifting myself and not her.

She sniffled and buried her head in her hands letting out a sob. I put my arm around her, and she leaned in, and I let her cry. I couldn't imagine what she was feeling. I always knew who my parents were, my dad was my dad, and my mom was some random goddess who I barely ever saw, but I still knew. This, this was different. Her mom had lied to her and now here she was with no father, and now realizing her only mom wasn't actually her biological mom, not that it really mattered because Laura was great. Never in my life did I think I would be feeling bad for her and consoling her in my sacred place. Things change, I guess. She sat up wiping her eyes and turned to me, "I think I need to call my mom, could you stay with me? I don't know how I'm supposed to have thus conversation." Her eyes were glassy as she wiped her black mascara away trying to clean herself up.

I nodded, "Of course I will. I know this is hard but just remember, Laura loves you, she raised you and at the end of the day the only thing that has changed is now you have two moms, super cool in my opinion." She let out a small chuckle and replied, "It's cooler when they're actually married, but this will do I guess." We got up and we walked over to the big house where one of the Iris kids set up a station to create eternal rainbows even in the night, it made it easier to be able to call people instead of waiting till the morning. It looked like an outdoor shower with a dinky light hanging above and a hose and mirror next to it. I turned the hose on letting it create a mist and flicked the light on. I positioned the mirror creating the world's ugliest rainbow and threw in a drachma before it could disappear.
