It wasn't meant to snow today. Or at least that's what the weather forecast said the last time I checked. I could see the sunlight slowly disappearing as the clouds engulfed the entire ground, seizing it from the sun's reach.Delicate beams of light shine through the small gaps in the clouds, descending towards the earth as if to bid farewell, as if to convey that their separation is only temporary. Quite poetic if you ask me.
Sitting at the window I turn my gaze to the phone that is placed on the dressing table, waiting for Cillian's name to light up the screen.
It has been an hour since he left. I could only imagine what the situation could have been, for he had to leave right away. Only muttering 'I'll be back in no time' and giving me those puppy eyes that could convince me to eat sand if he asked me to as a piece of assurance.
Glancing at my reflection in the mirror, a smile cracks its way to my face. Standing up slowly, I twirl around gracefully on the tip of my toes, admiring the white gown that sits perfectly on me, trying to distract myself from the uneasy feeling creeping up in my stomach.
I'm just a little anxious; it's not everyday that you get married, right?
With the smile still ghosting over my lips, I picture Cillian in his suit that we worked on perfecting for days, waiting for me at the alter, and reassure myself that everything will be okay.
The sound of my phone ringing startles me out of my reverie, making my heart jump.
It's just my anxiety.
I sprint across the room, slightly lifting my gown with both hands. A little Disney moment there, I chuckle to myself. Grabbing onto the phone, I answer it immediately, wasting no time.
"Hey, hi where have you been? It's getting late,"
I exclaimed a little out of breath.
"I thought you knew I couldn't make it."
The voice comes through heavy with confusion.
My faltered expression stares back at me from the mirror before I realize who I was actually speaking to
"Oh! Theo," I realized.
"Hey, what's up? You sound a bit shaken up,"
he trailed off. I nip at the fabric of my gown, pondering how I can explain the situation to him without it sounding weird.
"I'm getting married, of course I'd be shaken up,"
huffing out a chuckle. I try lying, but it wasn't completely a lie, so that's okay. Taking a deep breath, I continue,
