"Come to the window" I tell Calum as I peak my head out the window signaling him over. He steps out of the car with his back to me. I nearly choke when he turns around, is it possible for someone to be ten times more attractive in person then they were on the internet. He's dressed in black jeans ripping at the knee along with a grey muscle tee that allowed me to see his muscular arms. Oh god.
"Indi" he greeted with a smile as I handed him my luggage. The window was like 2 feet off the ground so all I had to do was climb out. I hooked my purse over my shoulder before sliding out.
"Shit" I muttered as my skirt got caught on the ledge and ripped.
"You okay?" Calum chuckled offering me his hand. "Nice skirt" he teases as I take his hand to stable myself.
"Shut up" I replied laughing as I looked up at him, He was also much taller in person. He was like a giraffe towering over a small mouse. His brown eyes studied me as I ran my hand through my brown tangled hair.
"So um lets go" I squeak as Calum nods and starts to pull my luggage. He stops to open my door before putting my luggage in the back next to a couple other luggages. Its surprisingly neat inside and smells of mint. He jumps into the car before starting it and driving away from my house. I stare out the window for what will be the last time. when we pass smith's house I feel as if I am forgetting something.
Crap, smith.
"Calum stop"
"Huh?" He says looking over at me with a confused expression. " you don't want to go?"
"No I do, its just I have to do something first." I tell him before getting out of the car and running up to smiths front porch. I place the letter with my sorry excuse for an apology in the mail slot on their front door. I turn back and run to Calum's car.
"What happened?" He asked as soon as I get back into the car.
"Just returning something to a friend." I tell him shutting the car door, as quietly as possible in attempt to not wake any sleeping neighbors.
"Ok" he sighs starting the car up and driving down the street. I stay silent for a couple of minutes as I take in every last bit of my hometown. The music flows softly though the radio as Calum hums along.
"Im glad I got to see you in person Indi" he says and I nearly choke at the sound of my name rolling off his tongue. Get ahold of yourself Indiana.
"Yea" I mumble looking over at him and giving him a small smile.
"Where are you from?" I ask the question I've been meaning to ask for the longest. His accent always made it a bit hard for me to understand what he was saying.
"New Zealand"
"So why?..."
"Why am In the states? My dad got a job offer here" he tells me and his tone changes completely at the mentioning of his father.
"Oh" I tell him before turning my attention to the window. I felt the air leave my lungs when I saw the sign that said leaving white post, come again!
"Are you ok?" Calum asks his thick eyebrows furrowing with concern.
"I've never been past that sign" I tell him gesturing to the sign that was now behind us.
"Really? You've never been out of white post?" He ask seeming genuinely surprised.
"Never"
"Why?" He asks the question I've asked myself everyday. Why stay? I never had a way out before. My mind swirled with tons of explanations and excuses as Calum waited expectantly for an answer. Well get in line, I've wanted to know the answer to that same question as well.
