017. the heart inside a box

AT THE SHERIFF'S STATION, Emma, Aphrodite and David were sat inside of Emma's office as Aphrodite had handed the man a cup of tea.
"Thank you," He nodded to her. "I hope Kathryn's somewhere warm, not out in the cold."
"David, I think you need to start worrying about yourself a bit more here. Your wife is missing, you're in love with another woman. There's this," Emma picked up Kathryn's phone records. "Unexplained phone call."
"I know, I know. I just... I can't explain why it said that. I didn't do anything to my wife."
Emma nodded, "I'm good at spotting a liar and liars have better material. Now, go home."
"I can go?" He asked, surprised.
The Sheriff opened the door for him, "We don't even know if there was a crime yet. So, get some sleep."
"Thank you." David stood up to leave.
"Oh, David," Emma called after him. "Maybe get a lawyer."
He started blankly at her before he left the Sheriff's office, Emma sighing as she went to go sit down at her desk.
"It's weird..."
"What is?" Emma asked the blonde opposite her.
"I was with Kathryn an hour before that phone call," Aphrodite looked up at her. "She didn't tell me she was going to call him."
Emma shrugged, "Maybe some things she kept private, you never know what was going on in her head at that exact time."
Aphrodite nodded, but she didn't believe it. There was no way that Kathryn would of called David after everything and if she did, she was certain that Kathryn would of told her. After all, the woman didn't have anyone to talk to but Aphrodite.
Soon enough, Emma and Aphrodite were walking down the streets of Storybrooke, back to their apartment.
Suddenly, Mary Margret appeared from somewhere and had came rushing over to the pair.
"Is he okay? David?" She asked, her voice full of concern.
"Oh, yeah. He's a little shaken up, but he's headed home. He's fine."
Mary Margret nodded, slightly relieved, "Any word from Kathryn?"
"Not a peep." Aphrodite frowned.
"Did you check with Boston again?"
Emma sighed, "She's not there, Mary Margret."
"So, we have no idea what happened to her?"
"All Emma knows, is that she found out about you to, gave you a well-deserved slap, talked to me and then disappeared." Aphrodite explained.
