An hour passed, the stifling air weighing heavily on Rune like a burden. While Adriano talked with others, Rune felt trapped in the same spot, suffocating.

All he wanted was to get away from the loud atmosphere and find relief outside. He scanned the room, his gaze drawn to an open door that seemed to lead to the backyard balcony. With determined steps, he made his way toward it, the sound of his thin heels echoing against the marble floor.

Stepping outside, he was greeted by a rush of fresh air that filled his lungs and cooled his warm skin. As he inhaled deeply, savoring the crispness of the air, he reached up to remove his mask, letting the cool breeze brush against his face.

He looked up at the serene beauty of the moon, letting its gentle glow envelop him as he took in every delicate detail of its luminous presence. The garden was adorned with pink and red roses, their petals shimmering softly in the moonlight and swaying gently with the night breeze.

The moon's tender illumination danced on the surface of the fountain, casting a mesmerizing sparkle that wove through the tranquil scene.

Rune bit his lip at the sight of the roses, feeling uneasy. Lost in thought, he wondered how long it had been since he last felt the wind against his skin.

"Hello," a deep voice called out from behind him, jumping Rune from his thoughts. As the sound of heavy footsteps drew nearer, Rune quickly slipped his mask back on.

The man approaching was a striking figure, his dark gray eyes sharp under the intensity of the moonlight. His raven hair, slicked back perfectly, framed with a sharp jawline, like a modern-day Greek god.

Standing at six foot four, he towered over Rune, his commanding, muscular presence radiating a potent mix of dominance and sinister allure.

A tattoo of a skull entwined with thorny roses adorned the man's tan neck, a bold statement that accentuated his rich, imposing allure. Clad in a sleek black suit with a dark-gray velvet shirt and a black tie, he exuded a darkly powerful, refined presence.

His muscular frame, standing tall and imposing, was evident even beneath the formal attire. Despite the elegance of his outfit, his inked hands and the visible tattoo spoke volumes of his intense and dominant allure.

"Quite a sight, isn't it?" the man said, his voice deep and husky as he examined the grand surroundings. His gaze shifted to Rune, a faint, knowing smirk playing on his lips. "Didn't mean to startle you."

Rune's heart raced, his mind struggling to keep up with the unexpected encounter. He averted his gaze, attempting to shield his face from the newcomer's piercing dark eyes. The intensity of the man's gaze felt almost overwhelming, adding to the unease already weighing on his chest.

"Not much of an eye-contact person, are you?" he said, his deep husky tone laced with amusement. With a hint of curiosity, he continued, "What is a beautiful lady like you doing here alone... with nobody beside her?"

Rune's eyes, drawn back to the man against his will, found themselves locked in the intensity of his dark gaze. Even though he felt irritated at being mistaken for a woman, he couldn't help but be captivated by the man's fine features and muscular presence. Their gazes locked, the connection between them charged with an undeniable attraction.

"I am not a—" Rune began, but his sentence was abruptly interrupted by a feminine voice.

"Boss!" Aurora exclaimed, her heels clicking assertively against the marble floor as she approached. She stopped and saw Rune with a sharp, assessing look. Before she could say anything, Rune, feeling the weight of her gaze and the urgency in her tone, turned abruptly and began to walk away. The echo of his footsteps quickly faded as he moved swiftly back inside the building.
