Birds sang as Wilhelm wrote a story on a piece of parchment.
"Wilhelm," Jacob said, "how's that new fairy tale you've been working on coming along?" Jacob asked his brother.
"I'm finished, Jacob. It's all written out." Wilhelm handed the piece of parchment to Jacob.
The wind picked up and blew papers all over the floor.
"Ah! Is that you, Charlotte? Where is Alice?" Wilhelm asked the young redhead.
"We can see you hiding, you know." Jacob's soft voice rang in his sister's ear as she peeked out from behind the curtain.
The door opened suddenly, and a young woman with light blue hair and purple eyes wearing a dark purple dress rushed in frantically.
"Wilhelm, Jacob, sorry to disturb you, but have you seen--" The blue-haired girl stopped as she looked at the guilty-looking redhead. "Charlotte!"
"It's alright, Alice. Come. Sit." Wilhelm gestured for his wife to sit down next to Charlotte.
"My dear sister, Alice, I am sorry for running off, but I wanted to see what my dear brothers were working on." Charlotte told Alice, who sighed at the child's antics.
"I must say, I am quite curious about what the two of you are working on as well." Alice replied.
"My dear brother Jacob. And my dear brother Wilhelm. Alice and I would love to know more about the new fairy tale you've been working on." Charlotte told her brothers.
"Yes, do tell," Alice crossed her arms, looking at the brothers.
"It's a story about a poor girl who lost her parents," Jacob answered, handing the parchment to the girls.
"Cinderella..." Charlotte read the title.
"Interesting," Alice said, glancing over Charlotte's shoulder.
"Orphaned and alone, Cinderella is mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters." Jacob continued.
"How awful," Alice said sadly.
Poor thing," Charlotte replied in the same tone.
"There's no need to worry," Wilhelm told them.
"Huh?" Charlotte asked.
"What do you mean?" Alice asked.
"A diligent and hardworking girl like our protagonist will inevitably receive her happy ending," Wilhelm said.
"Really, Wilhelm?" Alice asked, smiling.
Wilhelm smiled at his wife and nodded.
