Alice was putting some laundry on the clothesline as she listened to Charlotte play with her dolls. When she was almost finished, the window opened up to reveal Jacob.
“How is everything out here?” Jacob asked his sister-in-law.
Alice chuckled. “I believe it's going well so far.”
Jacob turned to Charlotte and said, “What’s this I see, Charlotte? Are you playing with dolls?”
“Huh? No, I’m not!” Charlotte lied, noticing one of her brothers.
“It's just that she said something awful to her big brother!” Charlotte said.
“Is that so?” Alice asked with the basket full of clean clothes in hand.
“Yes!” Charlotte nodded.
“Oh my, that's a troublesome little sister,” Jacob said as he played along with Charlotte.
Charlotte hummed before hitting her doll on the head as punishment; she was causing trouble, which is why he was scolding her.
Jacob and Alice chuckled.
“Be sure to teach her a lesson,” Jacob said.
“Jacob's right, Charlotte.” Alice agreed.
“I will!” Charlotte called out.
Jacob shut the window as Alice went inside with the laundry and started to fold it.
