The next day, Aki didn't show up to lessons.
Satoru, who was late again, was surprised to only see two of his classmates.
He had half a mind to skip out on the lesson in order to find out what had happened, but he chose to wait.
Maybe she's late as well? She has to turn up eventually... right?
But half an hour had passed, and she still wasn't there.
...
Aki was crying into her pillow, letting out the emotions she'd been keeping inside.
She'd just gotten a phone call from the higher-ups, stating that she now had the responsibility of being the eldest member of her clan.
She hadn't even considered it before, but it made sense. Only two people from the whole family had survived, and the second was her 5-year-old cousin. So, naturally she was now in charge of one of the four pillars of Jujutsu society.
The four main clans: Gojo, Zenin, Kamo and Inumaki.
And currently two of them were being controlled by teenagers.
Her eyes snapped open.
Gojo? Wasn't the white-haired guy a Gojo?
She finally remembered what her mother had once told her. That the Gojo clan had a child with both the Six-Eyes and the Limitless techniques. Assassins had tried to kill the child, and it ended up being a massacre. But the child had survived and was now the only remaining Gojo.
Speak of the devil, the white-haired teenager opened the door, looking for the girl.
When he saw her, he was shocked.
For as emotionless and detached as she'd been yesterday, she was now a crying mess, looking up at him with red eyes.
He came up to her, sitting on the floor so their faces were level.
"What happened?" he asked, desperately wanting to help.
The girl couldn't speak properly, she just looked into his eyes, her purple ones still reddened and glossy.
"How many Gojos are alive?" she asked, her voice almost a whisper.
That was the last question Satoru had expected, but he couldn't bring himself to lie to the girl.
"It's just me," he said, "Why? Did something happen to your clan?"
The girl nodded her head slightly, still looking into Gojo's eyes.
"I'm so sorry, Aki-" he said, furrowing his eyebrows. "Can I hug you?"
Aki nodded, sitting up. The white-haired boy sat down next to her, wrapping his hands around her. She rested her head on his chest, still crying quietly.
Gojo rubbed her back, until he heard footsteps outside the room.
When he'd gone to look for her, he'd lied about having to use the bathroom. Apparently, his long absence hadn't gone unnoticed and someone was trying to find him.
Suguru saw the half-opened door and peaked in, only to see his best friend comforting a crying Aki.
Gojo looked at Geto, shaking his head slightly. Suguru understood it as a sign to not intervene, he'd find out later.
...
The two sat in silence for a long time. Aki's sobs subsided, and she simply laid with her eyes closed and her head resting on Satoru's chest.
"Did you eat breakfast?" Satoru asked, his voice cracking slightly after he hadn't used it for almost an hour.
"No," she said. She hadn't left her room all day.
