A seven-year-old year, Meiko lay nestled in her bed, surrounded by the comforting embrace of her raccoon-themed room. The spade was a harmonious blend of her parents' traits: vibrant colors and intricate patterns reminiscent of her mother Jun's affinity with raccoons, interbetween with subtle hints of her father Orochimaru's serpentine influence. The walls were adorned with murals of playful raccoons and twisting serpents, creating a whimsical yet slight atmosphere. The bed was draped with a blanket with a pattern of interlocking raccoon paw prints and serpentine coils, and her shelves were filled with books, many with a custom protection cover in snake theme designs.
Meiko was curled up in her bed, flipping through one of her favorite books, a story about a small brave raccoon who faced unimaginable odds without fear or discouragement. The illustrations brought a smile to her face. Despite the burden of her mute faith remain reading this book always made her smile. Nio, her faithful raccoon companion, and voice, sat curled up next to her resting.
Nio wasn't just her friend. He was the voice that translated her words and the bridge between her thoughts and the world outside. Through their telepathic bond, they communicated effortlessly, a testament to the connection they shared.
The room was peaceful, save for the quiet rustling of the pages as Meiko read, but the tranquility was soon interrupted by a soft knock on her door. Meiko glanced up, her sharp ears catching the familiar rhythm of the knock, and knew it was Kabuto.
Nio stirred as the door creaked open, revealing the thirteen-year-old boy. His sliver hair fell into his eyes as he peered into the room, a smile tugging at his lips as he saw Meiko and Nio.
"Your father wants to see you, Meiko," Kabuto said gently, his voice warm but with an undertone of urgency.
Meiko nodded, closing her book and placing it on the nightstand. She reached out to tap Nio lightly, and he stretched lazily before blinking up at her. He immediately understood the message she was sending him.
Nio turned his gaze to Kabuto as his eyes glowed slightly."I'm coming, Kabuto-nii," He said, almost sounding like a little girl.
Kabuto nodded and chuckled slightly at how Nio's voice changed when translating Meiko's thoughts out loud. He then stepped aside from the door as Meiko slipped out of bed. She padded across the room as Nio jumped onto her shoulder. She followed Kabuto out of the room and down the dimly lit corridors while Nio perched on her shoulder, remained alert, and ready to speak for her.

The walk was familiar, the turns and twists of the corridors leading them deeper into the heart of the hideout. The air grew colder as they approached Orochimaru's office, the walls lined with scrolls and the occasional sound of slithering from one of Orochimaru's snakes in the shadows.
When they reached the large imposing door, Kabuto gave a respectful knock and waited for the response to enter the office. There was a brief pause before Orochimaru's smooth, chilling voice responded. "You may enter."
Meiko followed Kabuto with her eyes, immediately catching the sight of her father, Orochimaru, seated behind his desk. His long, black hair cascaded over his shoulders, and his serpentine eyes gleamed in the dim light of the room, a gaze that could pierce through anyone's soul.
Meiko bowed deeply in respect, and Nio perched on her shoulder, mimicking her action by nodding his small head. After a moment, Nio spoke in her place, his voice soft but clear, "You summoned me, Father?"
Orochimaru leaned back in his chair, his eyes studying Meiko with a calculating gaze."Yes, Meiko," He began, his voice smooth as silk."I have a mission for you."
Meiko's heart skipped a beat. At the age of four, she had started training in various ways with her father, Kabuto, and the Sound Four, who were in training themselves at age nine, but being entrusted with a mission was a big step.
Orochimaru continued, his tone measured."I want you to infiltrate the Hidden Leaf Village Academy. Your task is to study the students, particularly one named Sasuke Uchiha. He is the last of his clan, and I want you to gain his trust, to guide him down the path of darkness. His hatred for his brother Itachi will naturally lead him to seek revenge, but your role is to ensure he comes to the Hidden Sound Village. Sasuke Uchiha will be my future vessel."
Meiko listened intently, her mind with thoughts and confusion on this mission, especially when Kimimaro was supposed to be his vessel after failing with Itachi, but she figured maybe Sasuke was the next one after Kimimaro
Nio, sensing the confusion in Meiko, Nio spoke once again."How can I gain his trust when I can't speak for myself? Do you believe he will willingly trust me, communicating through Nio? And how will I infiltrate the village without suspicion? won't they question my ties to you a rogue ninja of the Hidden Leaf?"
Orochimaru's lips curled into a smile, a rare experience on his usually stoic face."I believe you won't have any trouble getting close to Sasuke. His heart is filled with hatred and pain. He will search for something to understand him and help him on his path of revenge. You, Meiko, will be that someone having your share of pain losing your voice."
He paused, letting his words sink in before continuing."As for infiltrating the village, it will be staged as if you're an orphan who was attacked and left for dead. You'll be found near the village unconscious by a ninja returning from a mission. Since your mother's traits are more dominant, aside from you having my hair color, which isn't uncommon for the Araiguma clan, just not your mother's hair color. The only real suspicion is the snake-like teeth, but that can easily be missed. If one doesn't look closely enough. Your identity as my child is safe."
Meiko considered his words carefully. It was a risky mission if something had gone wrong, but she understood the importance. Sasuke Uchiha was crucial to Orochimaru's plans. She was going to succeed and make her father proud.
"I understand, Father. I will take on this mission," Nio said, his gaze focused on Orochimaru.
Orochimaru's eyes gleamed with satisfaction. "Good. Prepare yourself, Meiko. Dress in one of your older outfits, something suitable for an orphan. Kabuto will help stage the incident. You leave soon."
Meiko bowed deeply once more, a silent promise in her heart that she would not fail her father. As she turned to leave the room, her resolve hardened. This was her chance to prove herself, to make her father proud. And she would do whatever it took to ensure that Sasuke Uchiha would follow the path Orochimaru had set for him.
Alright, here we have the first chapter of The Silent Raccoon. In this chapter, Meiko is now six years old and receives her very first mission from her father, Orochimaru. Now, she must prepare to begin her new life in the Hidden Leaf Village and get Sasuke Uchiha to come to the Hidden Sound. However, will she be able to complete her mission when she falls for him? Only time will tell? Now some of you are probably wondering how her and Sasuke relationship will work, you just have to see how i will play it out when it gets to that point of Orochimaru wanting Sasuke. Even through the The Crystal Serpent remaining chapters are still a work in progress I decided to publish the next chapter written and edited earlier then plan. I hope you enjoy this chapter.
