Grace's Man

Remember when we would skip through dreams?
I, consumed by you
You, consuming me

We would go ice skating
During the day
At night, eat ice cream
Together in our silk pajamas
We would talk about them like they weren't,
Problems
And at the end of the night I'd decide
I never wanted to look into another's eyes

Your hair, bright like sunshine
My heart, comprised of sin and moonshine
Come together, tangled like weather
Wispy things falling into our faces
Giggling as my hand would hold your cheek
And you'd hold on with your lips like you'd never let go of me

Then I would awake from deep under my covers
Alarm sounding
To get up and start grinding
For a man that values me
Based on money, flirting

All I can wait for is to fall back asleep
For,

If you were a boy, you'd be a man
If you were a singer, you'd be the whole band
If you were water, you'd be a clear stretching lake
If you were mine, you would feel great
If you were to come over, I'd give you my hand
If you wanted a home, I'd take over the land

However-

You have looked your whole life for a man
That is as strong as you
But of course, They all lie
They all cry rivers blue
No one can compare
To someone like you
So, of course, settle for someone docile
That will be gentle handed with your child
While I lie awake planning for another life,
Where you could be my wife
And I, your man
Warm would be your home,
Covered your hands,
Vast and flowered would be your lands
