You had always known you were different. In a class full of future heroes, each with their own unique and powerful Quirks, you felt like an outcast. The only one without a Quirk—or so it seemed. You were helpful, friendly, and did your best to support your classmates, but there was always an unspoken distance. They could fly, create explosions, manipulate gravity… and you? You had nothing to show for yourself. Or at least, nothing that had revealed itself yet.Bakugou Katsuki was someone you barely interacted with. He was explosive, intense, and seemed to have little time for those he deemed beneath him. You never crossed paths much, and honestly, you were fine with that.
One day, during a routine training exercise, things took a dark turn. Uraraka, always so cheerful and kind, found herself in a dangerous situation. A villain’s trap left her vulnerable, her powers failing her as she teetered on the edge of a collapsing structure. Without thinking, you rushed in to help her. You didn’t have a Quirk to rely on, but that didn’t stop you. You grabbed her, pulling her to safety as the structure came crashing down. But in the chaos, you didn’t escape unscathed. The debris knocked you down, and as you fell, Uraraka slipped from your grasp, landing hard and losing consciousness.
When the others arrived, they found you over Uraraka’s unconscious body, trying desperately to wake her up. But to them, it looked like something else entirely.
“What the hell are you doing?!” Kaminari shouted, charging forward.
“Were you attacking her?!” Kirishima’s voice was full of shock and betrayal.
“No, I was saving her!” you tried to explain, but their minds were already made up.
“She’s unconscious because of you,” Jirou said coldly. “Were you jealous because you don’t have a Quirk? Is that why you attacked her?”
Their accusations cut deep, each word like a dagger to your heart. They didn’t listen to your explanations, didn’t see the truth in your eyes. And with Uraraka still unconscious, you had no one to back you up. The rest of Class 1A turned against you, their harsh words and cold stares driving you to the edge.
You couldn’t stay at the dorms anymore. The place that once felt like a home now felt suffocating, hostile. So, you packed your bags, determined to leave and find somewhere, anywhere, that wasn’t filled with judgmental eyes and accusing voices.
As you were about to step out of the door, a familiar voice called out, “Oi, where do you think you’re going?”
You turned to see Bakugou standing there, arms crossed, his usual scowl in place. But there was something else in his eyes, something softer.
“I… I can’t stay here,” you said quietly. “They all think I hurt her.”
“And you’re just gonna let them think that?” Bakugou’s voice was sharp, but not unkind. “You really think running away is gonna solve anything?”
“They won’t listen to me, Bakugou,” you said, your voice trembling. “They already made up their minds.”
“Tch. Idiots,” he muttered, more to himself than to you. Then, louder, “I don’t buy it. You might be a lot of things, but you’re not a villain.”
His words stunned you. Of all people, Bakugou was the last person you expected to defend you.
“Why are you…?” you started, but he cut you off.
“Because it pisses me off seeing everyone act like a bunch of damn sheep,” he growled. “I know what it’s like to be misunderstood, to have people assume the worst about you. And I’m not about to let them do that to you.”
Tears welled up in your eyes, and before you could stop yourself, you were crying. All the pain, the frustration, the loneliness—it all came pouring out.
Without a word, Bakugou stepped closer and wrapped his arms around you. It was awkward, rough, and completely unexpected, but it was exactly what you needed. You clung to him, sobbing into his chest, while he held you tightly, as if shielding you from the world.
“I’m not gonna let them kick you out,” he said firmly, his voice softer now. “You’re staying, and I’ll fight anyone who tries to say otherwise.”
Over the next few days, Bakugou kept his word. He stood by your side, challenging anyone who dared to speak ill of you. His fierce loyalty was a surprise to everyone, including you. He didn’t care that it made him unpopular, that it turned the class against him too. All that mattered was protecting you.
Finally, the day came when Uraraka woke up. The class crowded around her, eager to hear her version of events, to confirm their suspicions about you. But what she said left them all stunned.
“No… you’ve got it all wrong,” Uraraka said, her voice weak but clear. “They saved me. I would’ve been crushed if it weren’t for them. They didn’t hurt me—they saved my life.”
The room fell into a stunned silence as her words sank in. Shame and regret washed over your classmates as they realized how horribly they had misjudged you.
They came to apologize, each one of them filled with remorse. But the damage had already been done. Their apologies, while sincere, couldn’t erase the pain they had caused.
After the others had left, Bakugou stayed behind, his gaze fixed on you.
“So, what now?” he asked, his voice low.
You looked up at him, your heart pounding. “I don’t know… I guess… I guess I just try to move on.”
“Move on, huh?” He stepped closer, his intense gaze never leaving yours. “And what if I don’t want you to move on?”
Your breath caught in your throat as he reached out, gently brushing a tear from your cheek. “What if I want you to stay? With me?”
“Katsuki…” His name slipped from your lips before you could stop it, and he responded with a rare, genuine smile.
Before you could say anything else, he closed the distance between you, cupping your face in his hands. His kiss was passionate, full of all the things he couldn’t put into words. It was a promise, a confession, and an apology all wrapped into one.
When he finally pulled away, his eyes were burning with determination. “You’re not alone anymore. I’ve got your back, no matter what.”
Tears welled up in your eyes again, but this time, they were tears of happiness. You smiled, feeling warmth spread through your chest.
“I’ve got yours too,” you whispered, pulling him into another kiss, sealing the beginning of something beautiful.
