Here Again, Without You

As Marleena considered what to do with the information that she had been told by her secretary, she called her grandpa "Hey how are you? Do you have time for a talk or do I need to come over for a visit?"

"It's about time you had called me. what do you need this time? I can see that we are having to deal with the Princess Towers that was built. Who the hell designed it without safety features?" the raised voice boomed then softened when he heard his granddaughter Marleena on the other end.

"Grandpa, I did not design that building it came from Maggie herself."

"Hum-ff."

"I had checked it before it went to the builders and it showed all of the safety features when I handed it back to Maggie to deliver to the construction foreman, Why, what happened?" the concern showed in her voice.

"Well you tell me when the elevator shaft collapsed on itself, and what happened with the people inside. They were guest in that building!" Grandpa's voice was stern and was coaxing to get the truth.

"I don't know what happened, I guess the materials that were used were just second hand and did not do the job for safety that was required" Marleena had guessed at what happened.

Grandpa being very observant even with a tone of voice "Well you need to have someone to check out what had happened at the towers. and investigate it thoroughly as to why and what caused it and how to correct it as the owners were not to happy and the families are now suing us for this mistake on our part " Marleena agreed and promised to do her best to find out what happened and was willing to correct this mistake for the owners.

Maggie had gone to lunch when Marleena went to looking for her and not find her so she called Maggie to see where she went."Hey I'm having lunch you can just wait until I'm back" Maggie's tone was hateful sounding and did not show any signs of remorse whatsoever.

Marleena in a very clear and authoritative tone of voice commanded "You will be here in five minutes or the lock on your office door will be changed, You and I have a meeting in three minutes now."

"Ugh now a meeting like in now meeting" Maggie rolling her eyes and sounding disgusted, with a being caught off guard kind of tone. getting her meal to change to a to go container while paying for her meal she left immediately to head back to the office so the locks on her office door did not get changed. As Maggie was walking out of the restaurant she collided with Talley asking "Have you talked to Marleena about the Na-no-micro building and the total pricing of it."

Talley shaking his head "I will see her at the meeting tomorrow at noon to discuss the amount of the project. As well as the changes that are required."

Maggie smiled and left for her office arriving as the Maintenance personnel was getting ready to change her locks on her door, which they stopped in the middle of switching the key lock and changed it back, Marleena walked over to her and said "Well guess what you have a lawsuit to deal with now."

Looking shocked and stunned "What lawsuit from who? Why would there be anyone suing us? We did our job correctly." Maggie sounding helpless.

"Well it is the Princess Tower Hotel, the elevators collapsed and people were in them. Some of them had died while others are injured. we are held liable for the design of the building and the safety of the equipment in it as long as it was installed properly." Marleena continued " then that should not be a problem at all then should it."

Maggie looking worried hastily zaying "It shouldn't be us its the one on the construction site who jeopardized the building not us."

"I have a copy of the original plans we made with all of the safety that was to be implemented and also a copy of what was given to the construction company. The one from the construction company wasn't missing the safety set to be implemented. What do you say now and your name is on both sets, hmm" The more Marleena talked the more pissed off she became and wanted Maggie to take responsibility for her actions, "You can have the chair position in the following four months to deal with any outcomes that you have done to the company. I talked to grandpa and asked him if he didn't mind if you could handle everything here for the company in the next four or five months while I take a few classes as a refresher on draft design for the clothing line I want to do." Just as Marleena was finished speaking the Attorney for their company walked in and sat down placing his brief case on the table pulling out the papers for what the case was about.

Jonathan Charles, "My name is Jonathan Charles, I am the Lawyer for Sharm's Conglomerate Enterprises. Are you Maggie? Are you the one who drew up the plans for the Princess Towers Hotel? What are the safety designs implemented that were for the elevators to keep from having the equipment failure." pulling out a large manila envelope handing it to Maggie.

Maggie looking much like a deer in the headlight stammering saying, "uh yes I did draw up the plans for the Princess Towers hotel and the safety plans for the elevator shafts as well as the stairwell that would go up to the first eight floors that have mezzanines for guess to enjoy certain kinds of entertainment, Why?" As she went to the filling cabinet where she kept her drafting designs, pulling out a file folder with the Princess Towers Hotel name on it handing over her copy to the lawyer. She opened the envelope, "What is this for? Why now of all things?"

"That is a subpoena for you to appear in court this Friday at ten a. m. First of all we need to go over your testimony about when you gave the copy of the engineer draft design of the building to the construction crew, day, time, who it was that received that design, please tell me these things if you can remember them as well." Jonathan looking rather intimidating had said.

"I can't remember I just know that it was on a Monday at the site when I had met the foreman of the construction crew" having eyes that were turning dark blue Maggie continued "the plans were in a tube when I had handed it to him. What has this got to do with me? Yes I drew the plans, Yes I delivered the plans to the foreman, no I did not see him take them out to inspect them as I was in a hurry to get home to my husband It was our date night"

"That is all I need to know, thank you" with that Jonathan left. to go back to his office. Marleena had seen him out of the door and Cera asked for the afternoon off to spend with her husband. So Marleena allowed her the personal time off.

THIS IS THE FIRST OF MANY THINGS THAT COULD GO HAYWIRE WITH THIS FAMILY
